One thing that I love about holiday weekends is that it is a good opportunity to reset routines such as getting enough sleep. For the past couple of weeks I have been hovering near but usually below 7 hours of sleep, thus not consistently hitting my goal however I have blown past that goal the last few days.
Read MoreIt was a beautifully cool evening for sleeping with temperatures hovering around 55 degrees. With a window fan blowing and another fan pointed at me, I loved every minute of it. Sasha and Darren woke me up by 6:30a since they don’t understand the difference between the work week and the weekends.
Read MoreI had the fun of starting my day out with a dentist appointment. After living in San Jose for seven months it was finally time to find a new dentist. I was originally planning on going in to my office but to maximize productivity, I decided to just shoot back home.
Read MoreIt felt amazing not having to wake up to an alarm this morning since I wasn’t driving in to my office. I only slept in an extra 30 minutes before Sasha and Darren got me out of bed but it was still nice. What was even better was that the extra sleep pushed me close to 5 hours of deep sleep.
Read MoreThough I still got within minutes of hitting my sleep goal last night, it was a fitful night of sleep, especially since Laura didn’t get a good night of sleep. I had a busy morning of meetings but by the afternoon it had quieted down so I was able to pick my head up from one major project to see everything else that has been needing my attention this week.
Read MoreThough I only slept for a total of 6.5 hours last night, it was restful sleep and I woke up feeling refreshed. My body was sore after yesterday’s workout, as I expected it would be, which made me happy. If I had more time I would have pushed myself even more to see how far I could have actually gone.
Read MoreIt was a beautiful night for sleep last night. I was able to get nearly 4 hours of deep sleep and didn’t wake up once except to shift around since the cat was sleeping on top of my feet all night. I was shot out of a cannon from the second I woke up through to writing this update and I’m sure it will continue until I shut down for the night.
Read MoreAfter several nights we were finally able to sleep with our windows open again last night. The window fan blocks out a lot of the road noise and helps the room get cooler than it ever can with the central air.
Read MoreIt was another sweltering day out yesterday so we kept the windows closed and air conditioning on last night. Though we prefer to sleep with the windows open, I sleep deeper with the windows closed since they’re triple-pane and keep the road noise out.
Read MoreAfter being exhausted all day yesterday I slept really hard last night getting 8 hours of sleep with 5+ hours of deep sleep - 2 hours more than my average for deep sleep. My morning started off with a couple of early meetings before I had a bit of time to knock out work. I only had a few hours before having to leave for UCSF so tried using that time as efficiently as possible.
Read MoreI was abnormally tired this morning when I woke up. Though I slept well, I think it was due to not going through my normal pre-bed routine which includes winding down and reading for a bit. Instead, I typed my update in bed and then crashed which is something that I try avoiding.
Read MoreThe third night seemed to be charm. I only woke up once during the night, which is normal for me, and nailed my sleeping goal at exactly 7 hours. I had hours worth of back-to-back meetings before lunch along with a number of additional priorities being added that my team has already started executing on before the day ended.
Read MoreThough I slept better last night I still woke up several times throughout the night as my body got adjusted back to being on the West coast. I had several meetings during the day but did have a few blocks of time to get through a bit of project work. Tomorrow will be rough with six back-to-back meetings before lunch.
Read MoreWe were able to get home, settled in and into bed by around 11:30p last night which is only 1-1.5 hours later than our normal bedtime. Though vacation is always fun, climbing back into your own bed is heavenly. I slept well throughout the night though I did wake up several times between 4-6a since my body still thought it was 7a.
Read MoreThis morning was our final morning to sleep in before we get back to the regular grind tomorrow morning. Though I am looking forward to sleeping in our king size bed tonight, it has been nice sleeping in a double size bed without an alarm clock for most of the week. If only I could get the king size bed and no alarm.
