Day 381: Testing My Ankle and Shin with Sprint Ladders

Though I slept better last night I still woke up several times throughout the night as my body got adjusted back to being on the West coast.

I had several meetings during the day but did have a few blocks of time to get through a bit of project work. Tomorrow will be rough with six back-to-back meetings before lunch.

Today’s Spartan workout was focused on sprint ladders. Instead of running on the treadmill I decided to use the elliptical:

Warm-up

  • Bike 10 minutes, performing 6 short accelerations (15 seconds) to full speed.

Main set

  • 400 meters (1 lap)
  • 2 minutes rest
  • 800 meters (2 laps)
  • 2 minutes rest
  • 1200 meters (3 laps)
  • 2 minutes rest

Cool Down

  • Stretch

I was impressed with how my right ankle and shin held up during yesterday’s and today’s workouts since both involved cardio, especially today which was focused exclusively on cardio.

I’m hoping that the injuries have healed up. If they start to flare up again then I am going to make an appointment to see a local ortho (based on a recommendation from my orthopedic surgeon), physical therapist or just stop into urgent care.

On Friday I have to go for another MRI, an appointment with my neuro-oncologist and blood work as we prepare to start the next round of chemo one week from Sunday.

It seems to creep up on us so fast since we only really get two weeks in between since it’s one week of chemo, two weeks off then a week where I have to get blood work twice before starting all over again.
