We woke up early this morning to head up to see my grandparents since my grandfather was still in the hospital. When we were close to the hospital we called my grandparents to let them know that we were on our way. It made me really happy to hear the surprise in their voices.
Read MoreIn the middle of the night I could hear the rain starting to come down so it was a good idea that we decided against going back down to Watch Hill today. After having breakfast I went to the gym with my father-in-law. Since I am trying to lay off of my right ankle and shin, I decided that I would only focus on my upper body.
Read MoreWe slept in the same room with my sister-in-law and my niece last night so when my niece woke up at 5:00a, so did we. Being far too nice, my sister-in-law brought Emma downstairs while we slept for another couple of hours.
Read MoreI was awake at 5:00a ET this morning which, for my body, felt like 2:00a PT. Fortunately I had gotten a solid night of sleep last night so didn’t have any issues getting up so early. Once everyone was ready we piled in and took off for Ogunquit, Maine. It takes around 3.5 hours from my in-laws’ house. Factoring in a few stops along the way, including shopping at the Kittery outlets, we ended up getting into town approximately 4.5 hours after leaving.
Read MoreLuckily, last night I didn’t have to share the double bed with both Laura and the cat which made life a bit easier. I was able to get another good night’s sleep, though I had a bit of trouble falling back asleep in the middle of the night since my mind started racing with random things.
Read MoreWhen I went to crawl into bed last night, my in-laws’ cat was laying on my side of the bed. I laid on the bed for a minute and petted him while Laura was getting ready for bed. Then, after Laura crawled into bed, he wouldn’t get up. Apparently, that is one of his favorite spots during the summer so he wasn’t too thrilled that we were sleeping in that room. Not one to disturb a comfortable animal, I crawled in the middle between Laura and the cat to fall asleep. Mind you, this is in a double bed which I already don’t fit in.
Read MoreWhile we were winding down last night, a thunderstorm started with streaks of lightning and booming thunder. In the 4.5 years of living in the Bay Area we have had less than 5 thunderstorms so that was a nice surprise. It is one of the things that I never thought I would miss from the Northeast because we didn’t know there wouldn’t be thunderstorms in the Bay Area.
Read MoreAfter publishing my update last night I closed my laptop and tried to get comfortable however, we were in the bulkhead exit row seats which meant that there was no room to extend my legs and the seats don’t recline. Unfortunately we didn’t have any other options without upgrading which would have cost us the cost of both of our tickets just for a single upgrade.
Read MoreEven though I woke up at the same time as usual, it is always much nicer to wake up without an alarm. I had a lot of work that I powered through first thing in the morning followed by a couple of meetings. With several projects launching consecutively over the next few weeks, my team has a lot going on so we are all in overdrive.
Read MoreLast night was far better than the previous night. We ate dinner earlier in the evening so I was able to take my chemo and still get a full 7 hours of sleep. Over the previous 5 rounds of chemo, the 5th and final day has always been the hardest for me. It is the day that I have felt the most crummy, fatigued and all around just blah.
Read MoreWe didn’t end up eating dinner until later than usual so, due to the timing of my anti-nausea and chemo meds, I wasn’t able to go to bed until after 11:00p which is an hour later than usual. I ended up sleeping lightly, getting under 3 hours of deep sleep. I had meetings back-to-back from 8:00-11:30a and had to leave at 12:15p to make it to my appointment with our orthopedic surgeon which is 61 miles away.
Read MoreI should have learned not to brag about only waking up once the previous night while on chemo since I ended up waking up 4 times last night. I was still able to get a decent night’s sleep and felt alright when I woke up.
Read MoreThe outpouring of support last night and today was overwhelming, far exceeding anything that I thought would happen. I don’t care about metrics such as website traffic, subscription, comments, etc but I do look at them occasionally. Yesterday’s traffic alone was double the average monthly traffic on BuiltStoppable.com.
Read MoreIt was one year ago today that our entire lives changed. Forever. After a fairly normal Sunday I was sitting on my couch while Laura was cooking dinner and prepping meals for me for the upcoming week. I only remember a couple seconds of what happened next.
Read MoreThough the two minutes wouldn’t have made a difference, I was happy to have beaten my sleep goal by getting 7 hours and 1 minute of sleep. Usually on Saturdays I workout as soon as I’m done taking care of Sasha and Darren but today Laura had a hair appointment so I waited until she left a little later in the morning. I spent time working through shoulder mobilities and using my TriggerPoint roller for global mobility work on my back and legs.
