Day 375: Enjoying Picturesque Maine

I was awake at 5:00a ET this morning which, for my body, felt like 2:00a PT. Fortunately I had gotten a solid night of sleep last night so didn’t have any issues getting up so early. Once everyone was ready we piled in and took off for Ogunquit, Maine. It takes around 3.5 hours from my in-laws’ house. Factoring in a few stops along the way, including shopping at the Kittery outlets, we ended up getting into town approximately 4.5 hours after leaving.

Day 373: Another Perfect Day on the Water

When I went to crawl into bed last night, my in-laws’ cat was laying on my side of the bed. I laid on the bed for a minute and petted him while Laura was getting ready for bed. Then, after Laura crawled into bed, he wouldn’t get up. Apparently, that is one of his favorite spots during the summer so he wasn’t too thrilled that we were sleeping in that room. Not one to disturb a comfortable animal, I crawled in the middle between Laura and the cat to fall asleep. Mind you, this is in a double bed which I already don’t fit in.

Day 372: A Beautiful Day on the Boat

While we were winding down last night, a thunderstorm started with streaks of lightning and booming thunder. In the 4.5 years of living in the Bay Area we have had less than 5 thunderstorms so that was a nice surprise. It is one of the things that I never thought I would miss from the Northeast because we didn’t know there wouldn’t be thunderstorms in the Bay Area.

Day 371: A Rough Night for Sleep

After publishing my update last night I closed my laptop and tried to get comfortable however, we were in the bulkhead exit row seats which meant that there was no room to extend my legs and the seats don’t recline. Unfortunately we didn’t have any other options without upgrading which would have cost us the cost of both of our tickets just for a single upgrade.

Day 370: Hello from 37,000 Feet

Even though I woke up at the same time as usual, it is always much nicer to wake up without an alarm. I had a lot of work that I powered through first thing in the morning followed by a couple of meetings. With several projects launching consecutively over the next few weeks, my team has a lot going on so we are all in overdrive.

Day 368: No More Restrictions

We didn’t end up eating dinner until later than usual so, due to the timing of my anti-nausea and chemo meds, I wasn’t able to go to bed until after 11:00p which is an hour later than usual. I ended up sleeping lightly, getting under 3 hours of deep sleep. I had meetings back-to-back from 8:00-11:30a and had to leave at 12:15p to make it to my appointment with our orthopedic surgeon which is 61 miles away.

Day 364: Running a 5K and Reflecting Back

Though the two minutes wouldn’t have made a difference, I was happy to have beaten my sleep goal by getting 7 hours and 1 minute of sleep. Usually on Saturdays I workout as soon as I’m done taking care of Sasha and Darren but today Laura had a hair appointment so I waited until she left a little later in the morning. I spent time working through shoulder mobilities and using my TriggerPoint roller for global mobility work on my back and legs.
