When I first got into the office I received a notification that my blood test results had been posted for me to review. Based on everything I could tell, it looked like my levels were in range with the exception of my white blood count and couple other levels.
Read MoreAfter a fun day yesterday, it was nice to sleep in for a little while this morning. I was able to get 8.25 hours of sleep after several days of getting under 7 hours. With the day off from working out, I was able to just chill out and watch the French Open until Laura woke up.
Read MoreFrom that night when I looked at her in the ambulance hyper-ventilating and more scared than I had ever seen before to now, I have watched Laura grow more mentally strong than I ever thought possible. It is a type of strength that only comes with facing a tragedy like what we have gone through. It happens when you go from just being a spouse to having to become a full-time caregiver instantly.
Read MoreMy morning started out with my second blood test this week. Typically the phlebotomist that I usually have is able to hit my vein on the first try. But, today it took 3 pokes in 3 different veins to finally have the blood drawn that was needed.
Read MoreFor the last few nights I have woken up twice per night to use the restroom. Though I’m able to quickly fall back asleep, I’d much prefer to not wake up at all. When I got to my office I called our neuro-oncology team because I hadn’t heard from the home delivery pharmacy yet this week even though I’m scheduled to start my 4th round of chemo on Monday.
Read MoreToday was the final day of our offsite meeting. It was my turn to provide an update on my team and programs. We finished the meeting with a team lunch before I had to jump into another meeting and then finished my day off with working on budget stuff. My legs and lower back were, unexpectedly, sore from yesterday’s workout.
Read MoreIt never helps when you forget to reset your alarm to repeat daily instead of just for one day. Luckily Laura had to wake up an hour earlier than usual today so I only slept 10 minutes late. The majority of my day was spent in our leadership team meeting. It was a combination of updates, strategic conversations and laughter - exactly what I love about our team.
Read MoreIt was good to wake up this morning to see that I hit a 3-day streak. Though my longest streak is 21 days, I was happy to have my sleep back on a normal schedule. On my way into work I stopped to get my first of two blood draws this week. Fortunately it was the same phlebotomist that I usually have so he was able to hit my vein on the first shot.
Read MoreThough today was scheduled as a rest day, I went to the gym for a 60 minute endurance workout on the elliptical along with a warm-up of jumping rope for 3 minutes. I have a work dinner tomorrow night so I won’t be able to workout. Since I don’t know what the WOD will be, I decided to do the endurance workout today.
Read MoreIt’s always nice to sleep in your own bed, especially when I was able to get 7+ hours of sleep again last night even though I woke up several times this morning due to Sasha getting restless. Now that I am back home I immediately went back to the gym. I have 49 days until the Spartan Sprint race.
Read MoreBy the time I published yesterday’s update I was exhausted and passed out hard, getting around 5 hours of sleep. Though I aim for 7-8 hours of sleep, I was happy to have gotten at least 5 hours of sleep last night.
Read MoreThis morning got started at an extra early 3:45a so that I could make it to Fargo for Misfit Con by mid-afternoon. I was able to sleep on the plane for a couple of hours before diving into my inbox for the rest of the flight. However, I waited until I got to MSP to connect so that my outbox queue would send because they wanted $37 for in-flight wifi. That’s just absurd to me.
Read MoreWhen I woke up today my legs weren’t sore from all of the walking we did yesterday...until I tried walking back upstairs with Sasha. Since today was my only day in the office, all of my meetings were compressed into today. I only ended up having around an hour to get anything done.
Read MoreIt was great to sleep in without an alarm again this morning since the office was closed today in observance of Memorial Day. With 8 hours of sleep I was able to hit another 10-day streak. It’s great to get back to my normal sleep schedule since it got so screwed up with Synergy. It will take a hit on Wednesday morning when I have to get up at 3:30a for a 6:15a flight to Fargo for Misfit Con.
