Day 294: Back in the Lab
It’s always nice to sleep in your own bed, especially when I was able to get 7+ hours of sleep again last night even though I woke up several times this morning due to Sasha getting restless.
Now that I am back home I immediately went back to the gym. I have 49 days until the Spartan Sprint race.
There seemed to be confusion between the regular Spartan website and a beta version of their new website that I was invited to test. So, I ended up completing the following workout:
Warm-up
- 75 jumping jacks
- Jog 1 mile
- Dynamic warm-up – 3 movements x 2 at 25 yards each
Main set
- 20 burpees
- 1 mile run
- 30 crunches
- 10 leg raises
- 30-second plank
PERFORM THIS MAIN SET ONCE FOR TIME.
Cool Down
- Stretch
I was able to finish the main set in 15 minutes including the transitions between the different exercises.
While that made me happy, what made me feel even more accomplished was getting through the 20 burpees in 1:40 which is by far the fastest that I’ve ever completed them.
Before my workout I spent some time stretching out my shoulders. They were tight after not working on them over the last few days.
When Laura woke up we booked a trip back to CT for August. It is our first time getting back east during the Summer in the 4 years that we have lived here. We always go back at Thanksgiving but that’s it.
It will be nice to get back during the Summer when we can spend a day at the beach in Rhode Island, go up to Maine and have a BBQ at my in-laws’ house.
After booking the trip we spent the day hanging out including going to see “San Andreas” which was a crazy over-the-top Summer movie.
We stopped to get Chinese food for dinner and came home to binge-watch Entourage for the evening.
I’m looking forward to a relaxing day tomorrow before a busy week at work kicks in on Monday.
