Day 408: A Productive Day at the Office and Gym

To take a break from reading Gen. McChrystal’s autobiography, last night I downloaded the first three books in the Bourne series. I wanted to read a new fiction book while reading the autobiography and, though I want to read The Martian which I’ve heard rave reviews about, Laura suggested the Bourne series so I decided to start with that. Being such a big fan of the movies I have always wanted to the read the series.

Day 407: Torching My Upper Body

My entire lower body was sore when I woke up this morning especially my quads, ankles and hips. The pain in my ankles had transitioned into soreness though I may still lay off of any hard cardio tomorrow. It seems that I have an ongoing issue that runs from my inner ankle up through the lower part of my shin. It flares up every few weeks and goes away once I shut down cardio for a few days.

Day 406: Completing the 49ers Rush Obstacle Course Race

It was nice to settle into bed last night and read for a while before falling asleep. I hadn’t been able to do it at all last week or this week so far. It is a routine that we have developed and I find that I don’t sleep as well when I don’t do it now. I won’t read business books before bed - strictly other non-fiction such as autobiographies or fiction books.

Day 403: A 15 Hour Work Day

The alarm went off an hour earlier than usual today since I had to be at my office for 6:30a. Surprisingly, that still allowed me to sleep for 6.75 hours. Any time you have to arrive at work for 6:30a you know that it is going to be a very long day. Luckily, I work with an amazing group of people that make it not feel like work even in the midst of craziness.

Day 400: Let There Be Football

After getting under 7 hours of sleep the past couple of nights, last night I was able to get north of 8 hours of sleep with 5 hours of it being deep sleep. I felt great when I woke up. My legs, upper back and shoulders were sore from yesterday’s workout which made me happy. I’m sure that will only increase by tomorrow since I typically have delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).

Day 397: Travel Woes

I didn’t have any event obligations today since I spoke yesterday so I decided to turn off my alarm before going to bed last night to allow my body to get as much rest as it needed. I ended up sleeping for nearly nine hours while getting around four hours of deep sleep. It was exactly what I needed and it was good to give my body time to rest while I’m on chemo, especially while having to travel this week.

Day 394: Another Round, Another Pharmacy Issue

After taking my chemo last night I realized that they had only shipped enough meds to get through four complete days. The instructions on the prescription even mentions five days at three pills per day but the quantity on one of the packages was listed as 12 with that number circled. Simple math eluded the person who filled the order and verified it. I didn’t notice it when they first came in since I didn’t have any reason to question it.
