Day 333: And So It Begins Again

I slept well last night, only waking up once. Unfortunately I won’t be able to accurately track my sleep again until next Tuesday when my new UP2 band is scheduled to arrive. The warranty on my UP24 had expired so I needed to purchase a new band. I decided to go with the UP2 since I don’t need heart-rate monitoring, at least as of now. It is something that I can always upgrade to in the future.

Day 332: A Frustrating Round Robin

Typically I listen to podcasts or audio books on my drive to and from work each day. Today I listened to a fantastic podcast episode by Tim Ferriss as he interviewed General Stanley McChrystal and former Navy SEAL Chris Fussell. General McChrystal has two books that are on my reading list, one a memoir and one about leadership, that I was already looking forward to reading. Whether you’re a fan of the military and/or leadership-related content or not, you should take time to listen to this podcast episode - there are so many interesting tidbits.

Day 331: Two Delays in Starting the Next Round of Chemo

I slept better than I did the previous night thus waking up feeling refreshed and ready to take on my first day back to work. I don’t drink coffee or tea in the morning therefore I rely heavily on how well I sleep. Luckily I had the same phlebotomist that I usually have so it only took about 10 minutes to sign in, get my blood drawn and hop back in the car. He’s really good at hitting my vein on the first shot so I only feel a momentary needle prick compared to others I’ve had that try searching for a vein with the needle already in my arm.

Day 330: Getting Back to Working Out

It felt wonderful being back in our bed last night especially since we had a smaller bed on vacation than we do at home. The fireworks continued for a while during the night which scared Sasha and she hid in the bathroom in our bedroom. Even though it was cooling down outside, we purposely kept the windows closed and air on to help muffle the noise. When I woke up later in the night I saw her back on her bed right next to me so that made me feel good.

Day 326: Wave-Runner Fun

Around 3:30a I woke up sweating and didn’t hear the ceiling fans or air conditioning running. Using my phone as a flashlight I checked the AC panel only to find nothing displayed. I then checked a few of the electronics in the room. Nothing. I managed to find the circuit breaker but that didn’t help out either.

Day 325: A Wonderful Sunset Dinner

I split the difference between the previous two nights, getting 9.5 hours of sleep. I was able to get 5.5 hours of sleep like I did on Saturday night. I really wish there was a push goal in the UP app since I’ve been crushing my 7 hour goal each night we’ve been here. Once we woke up we grabbed breakfast and then headed to the pool for the day (again). We took a couple of trips down the water slide before settling in for another day of laying in the sun.

Day 323: Soaking Up the Sun While Reading

I managed to sleep for almost 10 hours last night with nearly 5.5 hours of deep sleep. I usually average 7 hours of sleep with 2.5-3 hours of deep sleep per night so last night was great. When we’re on vacation by ourselves, one of our routines is to find delicious chocolate croissants for breakfast. This vacation is no different. Once we were dressed we ventured out of the hotel to find a chocolate croissant, a morning bun and a chorizo breakfast sandwich.
