Day 109: Thanksgiving Prep Continues

While not as much sleep as previous nights, I still managed to get 7+ hours of sleep last night. Though I didn’t wake up to use the bathroom, I did wake up a couple of times throughout the night. When I woke up this morning I had some soreness in my elbows, having trouble fully extending them to end range. I fought through the feeling to get both elbows fully extended. Once I did that they were fine for the rest of the day.

Day 108: Rolling Onto My Side

Last night I hit a 3-day streak getting another 8+ hours of sleep including 4+ hours of deep sleep. It has been nice getting more sleep this week while in CT. My goal is to get at least 7 hours of sleep each night so getting 8-9 hours of sleep is wonderful. What’s even more important is the quality of sleep that I’m getting and that’s why I’m happy when I get 4-5+ of deep sleep.

Day 107: Email, Grocery Shopping and the Next MRI

Another night of getting 8+ hours of sleep and only waking up once during the night. Last night I got the most deep sleep, according to my UP24, that I have gotten in months at nearly 6 hours. When I did wake up I had deep pain in my lower back. I’m not sure if it is from sleeping on my back for the past 3 months or if it is because I’m not in my normal bed. It went away once I got up and started walking around.

Day 104: Flying Back East

Today started at the same time (2:30a) as we went to bed on Tuesday night. That really screwed with our bodies. We left for the airport around 3:30a. As we were driving to the airport there was a part of me that was worried that flying would be uncomfortable. Throughout the entire process I didn’t experience any pain outside of the normal discomforts that I have learned to live with. I couldn’t lift any of our luggage so that made it a bit difficult on Laura.

Day 103: A Crashing Glass Door, Roof Leak and Nasal Spray

After publishing last night’s update, Laura was cleaning one of our bathrooms when I heard a loud crashing sound followed by Laura yelling in shock and pain. When I walked into the bathroom the sliding glass door had shattered everywhere, filling the bathtub where Laura was standing with glass. Laura’s right hand was dripping with blood since her hand and wrist had been cut multiple times.

Day 99: A Day Focused on Recovery

It was nice getting nearly 8 hours of sleep last night. I don’t remember waking up throughout the night, though I'm not sure if I woke up briefly since my UP24 band had to charge. I forgot to plug it in earlier in the day and it had died before we went to bed. My shoulders were sore from yesterday’s sprint intervals but after being awake for a while they started feeling better.

Day 98: A Morning of Repeats

Last night was a bit rough. I woke up at 12:30a convinced I had slept the entire night. Once that happened it was hard to sleep throughout the remainder of the night. At 2:30a I woke up in enough shoulder pain that I had to take Advil to help. Much like the other night, I’m not sure if it was pain or soreness but it was enough to cause me to wake up, needing Advil to help me fall back asleep.

Day 96: Waking Up in Pain

All at the same time Laura’s alarm went off, Darren started crying loudly and a hard rain storm started. As I woke up my shoulders were in pain. Not just sore but actual pain. Did I mention that this all happened at 4:30a? I finally rolled out of bed by 4:45a or so. It was the first night in several weeks that I got under 6 hours of sleep at a minimum.

Day 95: Out for Another Run

We had to wake up 1.5 hours earlier than usual today so that we could beat rush hour traffic heading down to Santa Clara/San Jose. Even with waking up earlier and waking up 3 times throughout the night, I was able to get 6.5 hours of sleep. It’s not my nightly goal but not bad considering all of the factors.
