Day 346: Getting Back to Cardio

Though I didn’t get more sleep, including deep sleep, than I usually do, it was one of those mornings where I woke up feeling as though I had slept hard the entire night.

Today continued this week's trend of back-to-back meetings including two 1.5 hour meetings. All of my meetings were great and productive but I was tired by the time my meetings finished around 3p.

Towards the end of the day I started feeling soreness/pain in my right ankle/shin but thought that I’d be able to push through it at the gym.

After taking a couple days off of cardio I tackled the following Spartan WOD:

Warm-up

  • Jump rope 5 minutes
  • 10 burpees

Main set

  • Run 1/4 mile
  • 2 x 15 laying leg raises
  • 30-second plank
  • Recover 30 seconds
  • Run 1/4 mile
  • 2 x 30 mountain climbers
  • 30-second plank
  • Recover 30 seconds

Cool Down:

  • Stretch

Completing 10 burpees was a cake walk after having to do 120 of them on Saturday.

Instead of running on the treadmill I switched to the elliptical to relieve any additional pressure on my ankle/shin but it was hurting by the end of my workout.

I took a lot of time to stretch out and use my foam roller when I got back home. I’m hoping that with the stretching and a rest day tomorrow that by Thursday my ankle/shin feels better.

I’m swapping my rest day because I have a team dinner tomorrow night. It’s perfect timing to gives me a chance to heal before getting back after it on Thursday.

Tonight the first set of photos from the Spartan Race were published. It was fun to flip through the main photo album and also check out my photos.
