Day 281: Sleeping 8+ Hours

Upon waking up this morning I realized that I hadn’t woken up once during the night. With excitement I then checked my phone to see that I had slept for 8+ hours for the first time in more than a week.

While waiting for Laura to wake up I continued to do a bit of brain dumping.

Tomorrow is blocked off so that I can focus my energy catching up on my inboxes, filing expense reports (fork meet eye), scheduling meetings and other admin work that went by the wayside over the last couple of weeks.

I took a bit of time to mobilize my hands with a series of exercises from MobilityWOD. It didn’t feel good during the exercises but my hands felt much looser after.

We typically think to roll out our legs and/or IT bands but few focus on other areas of our bodies that get beaten up such as our hands.

With me traveling last week we didn’t have to run too many errands last weekend so today we caught up on all of them.

For the first time since moving to San Jose we stopped at a farmer’s market and were able to buy delicious fruits and vegetables from local farmers.

When we got back home I enjoyed lunch while watching the Rockets beat the Clippers to go on to the Western Conference Finals to face the Warriors.

The Warriors won all 4 of their meetings during the regular season and have had a few days to rest by the time they kick off the series on Tuesday night. Needless to say, I’m rooting for the home team.

We went out for our first walk in a few weeks which was really nice. Though today was a rest day from my Spartan WODs, active rest and getting to spend time with Laura are plusses.

We knocked out 3.6 miles in an hour while also walking a steep uphill and downhill at a 16 min/mile pace.

While the stats don’t matter too much since, it is always nice to gauge the distance and timing.

Tonight Laura cooked beef stir-fry with brown rice. It was my first homemade meal in a week so I was excited for it.

When you’re traveling it’s the little things like a home cooked meal that matter.
