Day 374: A Relaxing Day Spent at the House
Luckily, last night I didn’t have to share the double bed with both Laura and the cat which made life a bit easier. I was able to get another good night’s sleep, though I had a bit of trouble falling back asleep in the middle of the night since my mind started racing with random things.
Since my Jawbone UP2 died and I left my charger at work, I’m not sure how much sleep I have gotten or how many steps I’ve taken the past day or so.
We stayed at my in-laws’ home today with our only real trip out being to pick up my sister-in-law and niece at the train station in New Haven.
The rest of our day was spent at the house mostly playing with my niece. The last time we saw her was in January when she was only 3 weeks old so we had a lot of fun with her all afternoon and evening.
When I wasn’t playing with my niece, I continued reading General Stanley McChrystal’s memoir. It is a riveting tale of his time coming up through the Army especially the Special Forces community.
My shoulders have felt good throughout the week though I have felt a bit of soreness in them since I haven’t worked out since Saturday morning.
I have purposely not worked out in a few days to give my ankle and shin time to heal. I’m not sure what I did to that area but it was very tender on Saturday after pushing through the soreness several times over the past couple of weeks.
Hopefully laying off of it for the majority of this week will give it time to heal along with the rest of my body before getting back to it either late this week or earlier next week.
Tomorrow we’re taking off early to head up to Ogunquit, Maine for an overnight stay. Laura and I haven’t been for 5 years and, similar to Watch Hill, Rhode Island, it is another quintessential town.
