Last night I was able to sleep for nearly 8 hours with only waking up once for a brief minute right after falling asleep. As I fell asleep I wanted to test the difference between my UP24 band and the Galaxy Gear Fit smartwatch that my sister-in-law and her boyfriend bought me for Christmas. My UP band proved to be more detailed and accurate than the smartwatch.
Read MoreThis year’s Christmas morning started earlier than previous years, getting underway by around 6:00a. Laura was having trouble sleeping last night so we woke up by 5:40a. Before opening presents we made hot chocolate with whipped cream and hot cinnamon rolls. We also started a fire though it didn’t last too long since I’m terrible at building fires.

Even though it was early you could still tell that it was a holiday week because the highway was empty. It took a little over an hour to make it down to San Jose from where we live.

Murphy diving into the Crossfit culture and documenting how it helped him to rebuild his body. I managed another 8 hours of sleep last night with half of that being deep sleep. Whereas the previous night I had a great dream that I remembered, I had a scary dream last night. It’s been interesting because I don’t typically remember my dreams.

Read MoreI’m not sure how much sleep I got last night but I know that I fell asleep quickly and didn’t wake up until around 7:00a. The weight of yesterday exhausted me. It felt good to crawl into bed after publishing yesterday’s update. I weighed myself immediately when I woke up as usual. I gained 2 pounds this week while holding my body fat % steady. Another week without drastic changes with either metric.

Read MoreThough I slept 7.5 hours last night, I woke up 6 times throughout the night. I don’t remember sleeping that poorly since earlier in my recovery. I only got around 2 hours of deep sleep thus, with the rainy weather, I dragged for most of the day.
Read MoreI was so tired again last night that I didn’t even hear our alarm when it went off this morning. It allowed me to get another 8.5 hours of sleep with 4 hours of deep sleep, hitting a 5-day streak of getting 7+ hours. The morning got off to a busy start with 4 hours of back-to-back meetings. Though usually exhausting, I try to make Tuesdays and Thursdays meeting days while reserving Mondays and Wednesdays for project work and Friday mornings for ad-hoc meetings.
Read MoreThe past few days, while fun, have felt long so we decided to crash early last night thus I was able to get 8.5 hours of sleep with more than 4 hours of deep sleep. It was nice reading for a bit before falling asleep. It always helps me to sleep better yet is something that I don’t consistently do.

Read MoreFor the third time in the past week I fell asleep without setting UP24 band. Fortunately the band still records the micro movement throughout the night so that I was able to manually add my sleep this morning. I slept for nearly 8 hours with 3.5 of those hours being deep sleep.

I only woke up a couple of times both right after falling asleep and when I woke up. When I finally did wake up, though, I was exhausted. It must have been both the long week and the lack of sleep the previous night catching up with me. The dark skies and light rain didn’t help.
