Day 124: The Skies Open Up

After getting the house ready just in case there was a power outage overnight, we headed to bed a bit earlier than usual anticipating being woken up once the rain started. As we thought, right around 2:00a the rain started and we both woke up. It was hard to get quality sleep from that point forward. Around 5:30a I woke up and considered staying up for the day but was able to fall back asleep for another 20-30 minutes or so.

Day 120: 4 Months, Celebrating My Birthday and Committing 20,000 Meals

It has been 4 months to the day since a seizure would change so much in our lives. Since that night I have felt the worse pain of my life. I have also felt the compassion of friends, family, colleagues and people whom I have never met.  I have had a chance to reassess my priorities and, where necessary, make adjustments. And, through the continuous telling of my story, have had a chance to inspire others to make changes in their lives that will help them to be healthier and happier.

Day 117: A Terrible Night of Sleep

I haven’t had as much difficulty sleeping as I did last night in a long while. It took me nearly 2 hours to fall asleep once I laid down including getting up twice. I then woke up another 2 more times throughout the night before my alarm went off at 5:00a since we had to go down to Santa Clara/San Jose today. I woke up a bit sore from my workout yesterday which felt good but fortunately my shoulders felt great. As I have continued to increase my workouts I like that my body is responding well.

Day 116: Picking Out Our Christmas Tree & Lifting Weights

The rain was heavier and the wind stronger last night than the previous night so it made it hard to sleep. I have never been through a strong hurricane before but can imagine that it sounds something like what we heard last night. Even with the rain and wind I was able to get just under 8 hours of sleep but only 3 hours of deep sleep along with being awake for about 35 minutes in the middle of the night due to the weather.

Day 113: Our Final Full Day in CT

Another night of getting 7+ hours of sleep with a total of 7.5 hours last night. The lower back pain that I have been experiencing wasn’t as bad this morning but was still present when I woke up. Right as everyone was leaving or getting ready to head to sleep last night my father-in-law had to head to the hospital for a trauma case. He didn’t get home from the hospital until 4:30a so as people started waking up we kept it quiet around the house.

Day 112: Finding and Decorating the Christmas Tree

I hit my first 7-day streak of getting 7+ hours of sleep or more though I did wake up with lower back pain, likely from the bed. I will be interested to see if my lower back pain corrects itself after a couple of days being back home. There was some scheduling craziness this morning so going to the gym was out of the cards for the day. Instead I did my resistance band workout in the TV room followed by stretching out my shoulders using both the Theraband and the doorways.

Day 110: Happy Thanksgiving

With another 8.5 hours of sleep last night I hit a 5-day streak for getting 7 or more hours per night. I can’t remember the last time I got this much sleep on a consistent basis. The only problem I’m having is with my lower back hurting when I wake up in the morning. I assume it is due to the bed that I’m sleeping in even though I’ve never had any problems before.
