Day 110: Happy Thanksgiving
With another 8.5 hours of sleep last night I hit a 5-day streak for getting 7 or more hours per night. I can’t remember the last time I got this much sleep on a consistent basis.
The only problem I’m having is with my lower back hurting when I wake up in the morning. I assume it is due to the bed that I’m sleeping in even though I’ve never had any problems before.
Today is Thanksgiving in the U.S. so we spent the morning prepping and cooking followed by an afternoon and evening with family and friends.
This year Thanksgiving and being with family held a lot more value to me because of everything we have been through over the last 3.5 months.
There was a time just after my brain surgery where we weren’t sure if we were going to make it back to CT for Thanksgiving. Then there was the seizure last Tuesday which had us questioning whether we would be able to travel.
It was really nice to see family and friends who I hadn’t seen yet since being back in CT. They were all concerned with how we were doing.
Today has been filled with love, laughter, telling stories, eating food until I couldn’t move and watching football. I can’t think of a better way to spend the day.
As I mentioned yesterday, we have so much to be thankful not just today but every day. The support of family, friends and the broader community has been nothing short of amazing.
After not working out yesterday or today I am looking forward to a much needed workout tomorrow to work off some of the delicious food that I ate today.
While I understand the advice regarding ways to eat healthier during the holidays, I believe that holidays are days to be celebrated with family, friends and great food. I don’t want to worry about macros or timing or anything else health related. That’s what the rest of the year is for.
The only thing I make sure of is maintaining my water intake to counteract the alcohol and high sodium.
With that said, I hope that everyone in the U.S. had a Happy Thanksgiving and that your day was filled with as much joy as mine was.
