It was the middle of the night. All was quiet throughout my place. Laura, my mother-in-law, Sasha and Darren were all passed out. I woke up to feel my left hand aching. I had lost feeling in my fingers.
Read MoreAfter talking with a few friends over video and having my first passive PT session late yesterday, today’s goal was to completely rest with nothing on the agenda. No video chats with friends. No appointments.
Read MoreI had my first passive physical therapy appointment today. It was painful. It was hard. It was difficult for my arms to move in some of the directions the physical therapist wanted me to move. It was another fear conquered. And it was another step on my road to recovery.
Read MoreIt was early evening and I was standing in the middle of our living room. It was the first time we were going to take my dual shoulder slings off. Earlier in the day we were told by my ortho surgeon’s assistant that I needed to start completing pendulum swings a couple times per day. As we stood there I realized that I was petrified of being out of my slings.
Read MoreEvery night I wake up at 12:15a and 4:15a to take pain medication. This is better than the three times per night it was before I switched medications a few days ago. And even better than when I was in the hospital where I seemed to be woken up at least once an hour for medications, vitals, blood draws or any number of other things.
Read MoreToday has been a decent day for pain management thus far with the exception of when I first woke up. Every night I have only kept the blanket up to my waist where I have a pillow for my arms to rest on.

Read MoreIncreased to 20 flights of stairs yesterday from 15 flights the day previous. Have I mentioned that I despise running stairs?!? My overall step count was a bit lower but that's probably because I didn't have an additional doctor's appointment yesterday as I did on Tuesday. I still did two walks yesterday.
Read MoreThe generosity and outpouring of support from everyone has been incredible. While there is a long road ahead, your support means more to us than we can express. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Read MoreYesterday I knocked out two walks and pushed myself through an additional 5 flights of stairs. That brought yesterday's total to 3,541 (+410 steps) and 15 flights of stairs (+5 flights). I won't be able to make such sharp increases every day but every day I will push myself to progress in some way.
