One nice part of being back in CT is consistent nights of 8+ hours of sleep. And even though I still wake up at least once during the night, they are restful nights. The closer to Thanksgiving we get, the busier the days are getting, as usual.
Read MoreThough I slept for 8 hours last night, I got less than two hours of deep sleep. The bed that we sleep in when we’re here is comfortable so who knows what caused the light sleep. I met my in-laws at their gym once I woke up since they had gone to church while we were still sleeping.
Read MoreWhen I woke up this morning and Laura told me that it was nearly 10:00a, I was in shock. I had slept for 11 hours. It is, by far, the longest I had slept in a very long time. The afternoon was taken up with running errands and helping my father-in-law help with raking/moving leaves after he had blown them into piles.
Read MoreI was able to sleep decently well on the flight to Newark but sleeping on an airplane in coach is still not my idea of getting a good night’s rest. It ended up taking us around 4 hours to get up to Connecticut from EWR due to rush hour traffic in New Jersey and New York.
Read MoreAfter doing so well for over a week, the last two nights I have managed to miss my sleep goal. It’s been a busy week and I am hopeful that I’ll get rest while we’re back in Connecticut, starting Friday night. Thursday night won’t be a great night of sleep since it’ll be a red-eye flight into EWR.
Read MoreLast night got a bit away from me so I ended up crashing later than usual thus breaking my streak of hitting my sleep goal. Ah well, it was due to end eventually. Besides a busy day at work filled with a financial analyst call and several announcements, it was also a day of remembrance for me.
Read MoreWhen I climbed out of bed this morning I could feel the soreness throughout my body from my GORUCK event on Saturday. I was only sore, however, in the same areas that were sore yesterday. My legs weren’t sore or tired whatsoever which made me really happy and gave me confidence that I can actually push my body even further in my 2016 events.
Read MoreAs could be expected after rucking 10+ miles, I slept like a rock overnight without waking up once. Sasha and Darren even let me sleep until 7:00a which was nice for a change. My shoulders, upper back, the knife-edge of my left foot and the back heel of my right foot were all sore but that was about it. I expected things to be much worse.
Read MoreI was exhausted by the end of yesterday so I was really happy to have slept for nearly 8 hours last night. I spent the morning stretching and using my foam roller to get my body loosened up before driving down to Santa Cruz for my GORUCK Light event.
Read MoreWith no meetings scheduled and working from home today, I started work earlier than usual and was able to bang through a ton of work. What’s nice about Fridays is that I also, typically, catch up on anything around the house that I haven’t been able to tackle during the week as well.
Read MoreI was able to hit a 7-day streak with last night’s 7 hours of sleep. It’s the longest streak that I’ve accomplished in a long time which makes me really happy. Though my shoulders were sore yesterday morning, this morning they weren’t sore at all.
Read MoreWith how cold it was supposed to be last night, we finally closed the bedroom window thus allowing us to not only block out a majority of the street noise but also completely close the blinds. When my alarm went off this morning I thought it was the middle of the night because of how quiet and dark it was in our room.
Read MoreMy morning started with Laura waking me up and asking me if everything was ok. The issue? I had overslept by 40 minutes. I pride myself on never oversleeping and waking up immediately when my alarm goes off. That didn’t happen today.
Read MoreWhen I took Sasha outside this morning, though it wasn’t sunny, it seemed like it would just be a chilly start to the morning. Once I got to my office, however, the skies opened up and the third storm in the last seven days started. It was a strong thunderstorm packing lots of lightning. It is only a handful of times in the four years of living here that we have had an active lightning storm.
Read MoreSasha and Darren let me sleep an extra 15 minutes later this morning, not waking me up until 6:30a - a small victory. When I climbed out of bed my legs were already getting sore after yesterday’s hard lifting session. My upper back was also sore from Friday’s workout.
