Day 464: Stairs, Box Toe Touches & More

When I climbed out of bed this morning I could feel the soreness throughout my body from my GORUCK event on Saturday.

I was only sore, however, in the same areas that were sore yesterday. My legs weren’t sore or tired whatsoever which made me really happy and gave me confidence that I can actually push my body even further in my 2016 events.

Though I only had a few meetings to start off this work week, it was a very busy day working on a few high priority items that sucked up most of my time.

It was funny catching up with colleagues throughout the day when they asked how my weekend was. Some of them knew about the GORUCK event but many others thought that I was crazy especially when I told them that I was considering doing a Tough (12 hour challenge) next year.

Even though the edge of my left foot was still sore, I did want to get in a cardio and core workout, even if it was shortened.

Cardio

  • 50 flights of stairs - 9:08
  • Box toe touches - 8 rounds (20 secs work/10 secs rest)

Core

  • Overhead Weighted Incline Sit-Ups - 3 x 15 reps (35 lb plate)
  • Standing Oblique Crunches - 3 x 15 reps/side (45 lb plate)

It was enough to exhaust me, especially stressing my shoulders during the weighted incline sit-ups. I held the plate directly overhead during the each set to make the sit-ups even harder.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day at work and I’ll finish it at the gym with a shoulders and traps workout.

It’ll be interesting to see how much I can do based on how sore my upper back and shoulders are tomorrow.
