Day 466: Heavy Medicine Ball Slams

After doing so well for over a week, the last two nights I have managed to miss my sleep goal.

It’s been a busy week and I am hopeful that I’ll get rest while we’re back in Connecticut, starting Friday night. Thursday night won’t be a great night of sleep since it’ll be a red-eye flight into EWR.

Today was a rough day at the office but I knew it would be heading in this morning. There was no way around it, unfortunately.

While using my standing desk during a meeting, I used the time to work some of the stiffness out of my feet using my lacrosse ball.

I keep a lacrosse ball in my office at all times so that when I have a moment I can do a bit of mobility work.

A friend and I have been pushing each other to improve our 6,000 meter row times. After she beat the time I posted on Friday, tonight’s agenda was trying to beat hers.

I ended up shaving 2:42 off of my 6,000 meter row, completing it in 26:01, beating my friend by 1:35.

When I finished I had to sit there for a good 5 minutes before even attempting to stand up. And when I finally stood up I almost fell when I tried taking my first step.

I then turned my attention to my abs:

  • Exercise Ball Crunches - 3 x 15 reps (w/10 lb plate)
  • Medicine Ball Slams - 3 x 15 reps (25 lbs)

It’s the heaviest medicine ball that I’ve used in over a year with the exception of the slams that we had to do as part of the Spartan Race.

Tonight we started getting ready for our trip tomorrow night. Tomorrow I’ll be working from home so that in between work, I can tackle last-minute errands such as getting my hair cut, stopping at the bank, etc.
