The beautiful breeze of yesterday continued through the night thus making for a perfect night of sleep. Waking up in the morning has been increasingly hard for me over the last 2 weeks because of it being dark when I wake up. As with most people, it makes me want to just turn over and go back to sleep.
Read MoreAfter only having a single meeting yesterday, today was filled with back-to-back meetings with the exception of a short break for lunch. Long days filled with a lot of meetings require a certain amount of stamina and capacity to switch topics quickly, retain information and provide a variety of updates depending on the meeting.
Read MoreTo take a break from reading Gen. McChrystal’s autobiography, last night I downloaded the first three books in the Bourne series. I wanted to read a new fiction book while reading the autobiography and, though I want to read The Martian which I’ve heard rave reviews about, Laura suggested the Bourne series so I decided to start with that. Being such a big fan of the movies I have always wanted to the read the series.
Read MoreMy entire lower body was sore when I woke up this morning especially my quads, ankles and hips. The pain in my ankles had transitioned into soreness though I may still lay off of any hard cardio tomorrow. It seems that I have an ongoing issue that runs from my inner ankle up through the lower part of my shin. It flares up every few weeks and goes away once I shut down cardio for a few days.
Read MoreIt was nice to settle into bed last night and read for a while before falling asleep. I hadn’t been able to do it at all last week or this week so far. It is a routine that we have developed and I find that I don’t sleep as well when I don’t do it now. I won’t read business books before bed - strictly other non-fiction such as autobiographies or fiction books.
Read MoreAfter the busyness of this week I slept hard last night, not waking up once throughout the night and woke up this morning without my alarm. Even though I only slept in until 6:30a, it felt as if I had slept until mid-morning.
Read MoreIt was really hard to wake up this morning after such a long week but I was able to pull myself out of bed and head into the office for 7:00a. Whereas yesterday was a day full of presentations, today was focused on our executives spending one-on-one time with several analysts over a couple of hours.
Read MoreThe alarm went off an hour earlier than usual today since I had to be at my office for 6:30a. Surprisingly, that still allowed me to sleep for 6.75 hours. Any time you have to arrive at work for 6:30a you know that it is going to be a very long day. Luckily, I work with an amazing group of people that make it not feel like work even in the midst of craziness.
Read MoreWhen I woke up this morning my core was considerably more sore than it was yesterday - delayed onset muscle soreness had fully set in. The majority of the day was spent helping our team prep for the Industry Analyst meeting which kicked off tonight with a welcome reception.
Read MoreIt was a gorgeous night for sleeping, as most nights this week are forecasted to be. When I woke up I could already feel soreness in my core from yesterday’s workout. My shoulders and upper back weren’t as sore as I had anticipated which is always a good thing.
Read MoreAfter getting under 7 hours of sleep the past couple of nights, last night I was able to get north of 8 hours of sleep with 5 hours of it being deep sleep. I felt great when I woke up. My legs, upper back and shoulders were sore from yesterday’s workout which made me happy. I’m sure that will only increase by tomorrow since I typically have delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS).
Read MoreTwo of my favorite things when coming back home from a trip, besides giving Laura a big hug: getting tackled by Sasha and sleeping in my own bed. I didn’t get as much sleep as I would have hoped since we didn’t fall asleep until late and Sasha was sure to wake me up by 6:30a as usual.
Read MoreWith not falling asleep until after 1:00a I only got 5.5 hours of sleep so it took a few extra minutes to wake up this morning. I spent the first moments after showering reflecting on the past year. As I read through Facebook Memories and Timehop I couldn’t help but wipe tears away from my eyes.
Read MoreI didn’t have any event obligations today since I spoke yesterday so I decided to turn off my alarm before going to bed last night to allow my body to get as much rest as it needed. I ended up sleeping for nearly nine hours while getting around four hours of deep sleep. It was exactly what I needed and it was good to give my body time to rest while I’m on chemo, especially while having to travel this week.
Read MoreThough the time that the alarm went off was the same (6:00a), my body is functioning on home time, therefore it was 3:00a when my alarm went off. I decided to go back to sleep for an additional 30 minutes to give my body more time to rest before getting up to start the day.
