Day 364: Running a 5K and Reflecting Back

Though the two minutes wouldn’t have made a difference, I was happy to have beaten my sleep goal by getting 7 hours and 1 minute of sleep. Usually on Saturdays I workout as soon as I’m done taking care of Sasha and Darren but today Laura had a hair appointment so I waited until she left a little later in the morning. I spent time working through shoulder mobilities and using my TriggerPoint roller for global mobility work on my back and legs.

Day 363: A Throwback Music Day

Usually we both spend around 30-45 minutes reading before falling asleep. As soon as I tried reading I couldn’t keep my eyes open so after reading 1% on my Kindle I closed it up and headed off to dream land. Even though I only read for a couple of minutes, I’m excited to have started reading “My Share of the Task: A Memoir” by General Stanley McChrystal. I have always respected General McChrystal and after listening to Tim Ferriss’ interview with him I immediately added his two books to my wish list.

Day 362: The Chemo Meds Arrived at the Wrong Location

I’m happy to report that last night was far less eventful than the previous night. Though I only slept for 6.75 hours, I only woke up once during the night. After an insane week, today finally let up on the high volume of meetings that I had during the first half of the week. I still had a handful of meetings but it wasn’t the crazy back-to-back schedule of yesterday and Tuesday.

Day 359: Tackling the Spartan 150

While rifling through our storage closet on Saturday to get Darren’s cat carrier, I found one of those double fans that is meant for windows. When we lived in Tiburon we couldn’t use it since everything was sliding glass doors so I had forgotten about it. I took it out and installed it in our bedroom window to make it even cooler at night and block out more of the street noise when we leave the windows open.

Day 357: Brunch, Another Visit to the Vet and Mission Impossible

When I was walking Sasha last night before bed I could see a police helicopter a couple of miles in the distance with their search light on. Thinking nothing of it, I came back upstairs and got ready for bed. After falling asleep we were both awakened by police sirens and cruisers fish-tailing onto our street. You could hear their screeching tires as their lights were bouncing off of our walls. Like a week ago, we’re not sure what happened but whatever it was it probably wasn’t good.

Day 356: A Nice Friday Working from Home

I’m not sure what’s going on but last night I woke up 6 times even though I managed to get 4.5 hours of deep sleep again and a total of 7+ hours. In checking my UP app it follows the same routine throughout the night of waking up for a minute then going into light sleep followed by deep sleep. While I only remember waking up once, I’ll be interested to see if I have the same issue tonight.

Day 352: A Day Full of Meetings

The morning started out with taking Sasha for another long(er) walk. It’s only 0.35 miles per walk on average, as of right now, but that was still farther than I was walking her before. After a fun weekend, today was time to start another fast-paced week of non-stop meetings leaving only small pockets of time to get project work done.

Day 351: Falling Asleep with a Police Helicopter and K-9s Outside

As we laid down to read before falling asleep we heard a helicopter overhead. It didn’t phase either of us at first because we are on the landing path for the San Jose airport. However, after a few minutes the helicopter was getting lower and starting to circle right above our community. In the distance we heard police sirens getting closer as well. That’s when we finally got out of bed to look out the window.
