After consecutively hitting my sleep goal of 7 hours per night for the last few weeks, last night I barely kept up the current record I have going. I ended up getting 7 hours exactly. Not a minute later. Not a minute earlier. I woke up a bit later than I planned so I had to run around like a maniac to get ready, packed up, checked out and get to the morning keynote thus having to rely on a protein bar for breakfast.
Read MoreI never sleep well when I’m staying in a hotel. I tend to toss around throughout the night, often rolling back and forth across the bed. So, even though I got 7.5 hours of sleep, I only actually got 2.5 hours of deep sleep.
Read MoreIt’s been nice consistently getting over 7 hours of sleep lately. I continue to prioritize my sleep especially now that I have started chemo. I headed into my office for a few hours to have several meetings before leaving for the airport to take the short hop down to San Diego for Social Media Marketing World.
Read MoreI swear that, at times, Sasha and Darren are perfectly preparing us to be parents such as when they do things to wake you up in the middle of the night. Darren slept next to me until around 4:00a when he jumped down and did something to Sasha which caused her to yelp, running to the other corner of our bedroom. Even though I didn’t get out of bed, I still had to console Sasha for a minute as Darren started walking around crying. Like I said, just like raising children.
Read MoreAs I have mentioned before, not only do I continue writing this daily journal for myself, but I also continue writing it because multiple times per week I receive a message that it serves as inspiration for someone.
Read MoreA couple of margaritas last night helped to ensure that I slept for close to 9 hours last night which is at least an hour more than usual. As soon as I woke up I headed over to the gym to stretch my shoulders and for today’s WOD.
Read MoreSaturdays are always a nice morning to sleep in even if sleeping in is only 7:15a by the time Sasha and Darren start acting crazy. After taking Sasha outside and feeding both of them I decided to crawl back into bed for another 20 minutes or so before finally getting up for the day.
Read MoreI decided not to set my alarm last night so that I could sleep until Laura’s alarm went off at 6:45a since I was already planning on working from home. That allowed me to get nearly 8 hours of sleep. As this week comes to a close it will be interesting to see if the fatigue subsides.
Read MoreWith another 7.5 hours of sleep last night I was able to hit a 10-day streak of getting 7 hours or more of sleep per night. The 10-day streak is thanks to the fatigue from this first round of chemo. Today was already scheduled to be a very busy day at the office with meetings back-to-back for the entire day.
Read MoreSince I haven’t been able to wake up before 6:15a the last two days, last night I decided to just set my alarm for 6:15a this morning instead of trying to wake up at 5:00a. I slept well overnight and when my alarm went off I didn’t feel any fatigue which was certainly a nice feeling. It was the first time in 1.5 weeks of waking up not feeling fatigued.
Read MoreWhen my alarm went off at 5:00a I felt fatigued like I did yesterday so I set my alarm for 6:15a and passed back out. I wonder how much of this is fatigue from the chemo or it being hard for me to get back to waking up early after sleeping in last week.
Read MoreToday was the 15 year anniversary since my mom passed away. There isn’t a single day that goes by that I don’t think about her or my father who passed away 5 months before she did. At her funeral instead of speaking I played “One Sweet Day” by Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men. Earlier today, as I do every year, I watched the music video when I got to my office this morning.
Read MoreThough I slept for more than 8 hours last night, when I woke up I felt immediate fatigue. After taking care of Sasha and Darren I laid down on the couch, spending the entire morning laying down while watching the NCAA conference championship games. Apparently I must have looked as though I wasn’t feeling well because when Laura woke up she immediately asked what was the matter.
Read MoreThe final day of chemo started with me sleeping in until 7:30a again like I have the other days this week. Both when I woke up overnight and when I crawled out of bed this morning I did not feel any nausea. It’s almost as if my body knew that today was the last day.
Read MoreWhen I woke up in the middle of last night I was probably the most nauseous that I have been this entire week. Luckily after sitting up on the edge of the bed for a few minutes it quickly passed. I again slept in until around 7:30a, getting around 8.5 hours of sleep. When I woke up I was able to jump right out of bed without any issues.
