Day 216: Increasing From a Walk to a Jog
When I woke up in the middle of last night I was probably the most nauseous that I have been this entire week. Luckily after sitting up on the edge of the bed for a few minutes it quickly passed.
I again slept in until around 7:30a, getting around 8.5 hours of sleep. When I woke up I was able to jump right out of bed without any issues.
Since I wasn’t feeling nauseous I had Greek yogurt, blueberries and Kind Peanut Butter Whole Grain Clusters, which has become my favorite granola since their team sent me a bunch while I was recovering from my shoulder surgeries.
Mid-morning I started getting hungry so I took a break to get in a workout.
Before starting my workout I stretched my shoulders including working on rotating my shoulder fully which I was able to do successfully.
Today’s Spartan WOD was:
Warm-Up
Jump Rope – 3 minutes
Main Set
Sub-Endurance, 20 minutes: Run (10 mins/mile).
- 10 push-ups
- 15 squats
- 15 lunges
x2 sets
20 minutes: Run (scaled to a jog at 13 mins/mile).
Cool Down
The last time I performed this workout I had to walk the last 20 minutes so I was happy that I was able to maintain a jog this time.
Hopefully I’ll be able to progress to a run but cardio is definitely not where I’m the strongest.
I was completely drenched in sweat and my legs were shaking by the time I finished my workout.
While that might scare some people off, for me it provides me with a sense of accomplishment.
I am happy that I have tackled 3 workouts during 4 days of chemo.
Tonight we go into our final dose of chemo for this round. I feel fortunate that it has gone as easy as it has this week though we’ll see how tonight and tomorrow goes.
I am thankful for Laura being by my side through this and for all of the support that each of you continues to provide through this next stage of my recovery.
