When I woke up this morning I was happy to see that I had slept for 7.5 hours last night. Similar to the previous night, I woke up a couple of times throughout the night but only had to get up once. This weekend was much better than last weekend when I slept less each night than I had previously since coming home from the hospital.
Read MoreThough I sleep less last night, I didn’t wake up to use the restroom until 5:30a. When I finally woke up around 6:30a my UP24 said that I had gotten nearly 6 hours of deep sleep and under an hour of light sleep. I usually get a balance of deep and light sleep so last night was great.
Read MoreI was excited when I woke up this morning realizing that I only woke up once during the night. I haven’t woken up that little since before my injuries. Another small victory. I had physical therapy scheduled again today as we work to jump it into a 3x per week schedule. My appointment was this morning instead of later afternoon like it has been.
Read MoreOne month ago today I had brain surgery. September 11th will always have a dual meaning for me from that day forward. I was terrified the morning of the surgery while we sat in the surgical prep area. We all tried to be strong for each other but it was hard.
Read MoreThough I slept about the same amount as previous nights, last night I didn’t wake up with night sweats. Hopefully that means that the narcotics have worked their way out of my system finally. I still woke up 3 times throughout the night. I’m still not back to sleeping throughout the night without waking up or only waking up once, as was typical before the injuries.
Read MoreI continued to improve my sleep quality last night getting 7+ hours of sleep again but only waking up 3 times throughout the night. One of the times I woke up I still woke up sweaty like the previous night. Some commented that it might be from minor narcotics withdrawal since I was on a varying amount of narcotics over the last couple of months. I’m hoping that is the case so that soon enough I will go back to a normal night of sleep.
Read MoreWell, I got more sleep last night than I have the last couple of nights. I got 7+ hours of sleep with around 5.25 hours of deep sleep. The only downsides of last night was waking up 5 times throughout the night including once drenched in sweat even though it was chilly in our bedroom.
Read MoreI slept an hour later than the previous night but actually slept less than I have all week only getting 5.75 hours of sleep. It was the first night of no narcotics so I am figuring that affected how much sleep I got because it has happened every time we have adjusted my overnight pain medication.
Read MoreWhile I passed out immediately last night I woke up at 4:45a and couldn’t fall back asleep. At 5:45a I finally got out of bed and came out to the living room while leaving Laura sleeping. it is not what I was hoping for especially on a Saturday.
Read MoreAs I was falling asleep last night the area around my shoulder blades were throbbing even after I took my nightly narcotics dose. I’m guessing this is more soreness than pain from the active physical therapy over the past couple of days. Rebuilding those muscles once they completely atrophied is hard, harder than any workout I have ever completed before.
Read MoreI slept significantly better last night. I only woke up once and that was not until after 4:00a. Every other night I have woken up at or before 3:00a. I also slept deeper than I did the previous night, getting 4.5 hours of deep sleep according to my UP24.
Read MoreI slept poorly overnight only getting 2.5 hours of deep sleep according to my UP24 band. I only woke up twice but the rest of the night was not restful. It was the first night not waking up to take the narcotics.
Read MoreLast night I slept without the slings again. I slept really well, getting 5.5 hours of deep sleep, according to my UP24, which is more than I was getting on average before my injuries. When I woke up twice during the night Laura did not even wake up which made me happy. For almost two months she has been waking up several times per night to help me. As I have become more independent again that has lessened by the day.
Read MoreI woke up four times throughout the night which is more than I have in a few weeks. I think it was because there was a colder breeze coming through our sliding glass door. It was also the first night that I tried sleeping without my slings. I figured it was only two more nights before losing them anyway. I do not roll in the middle of the night so I was confident that I would stay on my back (which I did).
Read MoreToday marks seven weeks since this entire journey began for us. I will always remember the date August 10th. I know that one day I will stop counting the number of weeks since the seizures but as I sit here still with my head wrapped up and shoulders in slings, I will continue counting.
