Day 337: The Final Night of the Fifth Round
During the week I wake up at 5:50-6:00a. On the weekends I will typically wake up between 6:00-7:30a, depending on when Sasha and Darren wake me up. Today they thought that 5:30a sounded swell. I kept drifting in/out of sleep for another 15 minutes but finally gave up and got up.
I went to the gym to complete the same core-focused workout that I accomplished last Sunday, thanks to Men’s Health:
Warm-Up
- Dynamic Stretching
Main Set
- Overhead Alternating Reverse Lunge w/Side Bend (8 reps per leg)
- Feet-Elevated Dumbbell Alternating Chest Press (8 per arm)
- Medicine Ball Transfer (12 reps)
- Offset Stepup Shoulder Press (8 per leg)
- Mixed-Grip Inverted Row (8 reps)
- Side-to-Side Glider Plank (10 per leg)
- Single-Leg Straight-Leg Deadlift and Row (8 per side)
- Weighted Half-Wiper (10 per side)
- 1 minute rest
x3 rounds
It was just as exhausting as it was last Sunday. I was covered in sweat after the first round, never mind getting through all 3 rounds.
While Laura slept I did more research into Spartan stadium races so that I can be as mentally prepared for this Saturday as I can be. I’m confident that I’ll be able to finish the race but it’ll be a question of whether I can accomplish it with or without penalty burpees.
For those who don’t know much about Spartan races, especially the stadium events, this is a great recap of the AT&T Park race from last year.
Once Laura woke up we ran a number of errands before coming home and just relaxing for the rest of the day, spending the day reading, watching TV and hanging out.
Surprisingly I didn’t feel any fatigue throughout the day even though I usually do on Day 4.
Tonight is my final dose of this round of chemo. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that tomorrow will be just like the other days have been and we’ll exit this round without any serious issues.
There is already a bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge for us to enjoy tomorrow night as celebration for getting through another round.
