Since I worked from home today I was able to wake up without my alarm clock, much like I usually do on the weekends. Though I’m sure it confused Sasha, it was nice for me to get an extra hour of sleep before taking her out.
Read MoreThis is my 500th update tracking my journey from that fateful day on August 10, 2014. That’s beyond crazy to me. I have never missed an update even when, at times, I have had to type one at 2:00a like the night that we got to our NYC hotel after coming back from St. Lucia.
Read MoreWhen I woke up my lower back was feeling almost back to normal after being sore for the past couple of days as a result of the 1,000 kettlebell swings I had done on Friday and Saturday (500 per day).
Read MoreToday was the first Sunday in a long time that I didn’t go to the gym as soon as I woke up since it was my off day from the kettlebell challenge. After taking Sasha outside, I grabbed my foam roller and other mobility gear for some painful rolling to break up the soreness in my back, shoulders and neck. My hamstrings weren’t sore from the kettlebell swings, though I still spent time focused on them as well.
Read MoreEven though it was a good night of rest, Sasha and Darren (aka “the kids”) woke me up at 6:00a. Usually they let me sleep until 6:30-7:00a. After taking care of them it was off to the gym for my second 500 rep kettlebell workout. It was the same workout as yesterday except I jumped up the kettlebell weight by 4 kg to a total of 20 kg (44 lbs).
Read MoreEven though we got home from dinner a bit later than usual and I woke up at my normal (early) time, I still managed to hit my sleep goal last night. I hardly ever go into my office on Fridays but headed in this morning for our holiday party. Traffic was so light that I made it there in only 35 minutes instead of the usual 45-60+ minutes that it usually takes me.
Read MoreThough I ended up having a few shifts in my calendar, today was a back-to-back meeting day. From 9:30a-4:00p I only had a few small breaks to refill my water, go to the bathroom or shoot off a quick note or two.
Read MoreWell, I didn’t sleep through the night without waking up but I did hit my sleep goal so I’ll take it. Today was a blur. I only had a couple of meetings but had a number of contracts to process, budget updates to make and expense reports to submit.
Read MoreIt was the third night in a row of both hitting my sleep goal and not waking up during the night. It was a good way to start off the day. Though my lower back was still sore, I was surprised that my legs weren’t as sore as they were the previous week from my legs workout. Last week I was still trying to walk regularly until Wednesday or Thursday because of how sore I was.
Read MoreI was able to hit my sleep goal for the second night in a row. What has been even nicer is sleeping through the night without waking up. My body seems to go through different phases of waking me up in the middle of the night for weeks on end to then not waking me up for another few weeks.
Read MoreIt was nice hitting my sleep goal last night including getting four hours of deep sleep. Now, hopefully, I can string a few good nights together so that I can get back on track. My upper back was sore from Friday’s workout and my lower back was already sore from yesterday’s alternating 1-arm sumo deadlifts. Surprisingly, my legs were tired but not sore (yet) from yesterday’s legs session.
Read MoreYou know those nights where you sleep so lightly that you wake up every time you shift around? Yeah, that was how my night was last night. When I woke up I felt as though I had gotten a good night of rest but I still tossed and turned all night long.
Read MoreAfter a week of not sleeping well I finally got 8.5 hours of sleep last night. I didn’t wake up once throughout the night and was able to wake up without an alarm. I felt great when I woke up and it seemed to help me fight off any fatigue throughout the day from the chemo.
Read MoreI tried my best to get to bed on time last night but I had trouble falling asleep and then ended up waking up twice in the middle of the night. It’s the fourth night in a row that I have missed my sleep goal.
Read MoreFor the third night in a row we went to sleep later than we usually do but I’m looking forward to getting back on track tonight. While I didn’t have a lot of meetings today, I had to spend time dealing with finance and HR-related projects and working on a 2016 planning meeting that I’m holding next week.
