Day 65: The Last Day Before Going Back to Work

Hooray! Last night I only woke up once! My sleep quality has continued to improve every night for the last few nights. Now let’s just hope that I can get another good night of sleep before starting back at work tomorrow.

I had another early physical therapy session today. My left arm was tight and sore, probably from the 5 mile walk yesterday. Beyond my shoulder I am also experiencing soreness in my bicep and elbow. My ongoing assumption is that the elbow soreness is being caused from using my triceps more.

After using the ultra-sound machine my therapist stretched my arms, we did a few exercises using a wooden stick and then hopped into the pool for a bit.

Once I got back home from physical therapy I had to deal with some minor issues concerning my return to work authorization and short-term disability.

Since I will be returning only part-time for the next 4 weeks, I will remain on a residual short-term disability benefit during that time.

After clearing that up I took some time to get my desk re-organized and ready for tomorrow. Everything from cleaning to ensuring the cords are organized and that the standing desk was working properly. I had to make a few adjustments to accommodate the standing desk.

I am looking forward to testing out the standing desk tomorrow. It is something I wanted to purchase for a while now and can’t wait to start using it daily.

With taking 9 weeks off of work I know there is a lot waiting for me when I start back tomorrow. I have already seen some of it when I have dipped into my inbox over the past few days.

Thankfully my team has been fantastic at handling so much while I have been out. Everything else will be prioritized and then either added to the to-do list or delegated.

It will take a couple of weeks for me to build back up my stamina - both at work and in dealing with everything that has to be tackled outside of work.

The past few weeks of being home has been nice when scheduling appointments, working out or getting through other personal to-dos.

There will certainly be an adjustment period and that’s why I’m happy to only return part-time. I guess neurosurgeons really do know what they’re talking about!

I had a number of other things that I wanted to tackle today but was sore from physical therapy and wanted to get some rest before tomorrow. I opted for laying on the couch reading and watching a few YouTube videos.

A reminder that tomorrow I will go back to sharing other content about fitness, productivity and marketing intermingled with my health updates.

After taking a 9 week break from sharing other content, tomorrow felt like the right day to transition back. But don’t worry, I will still keep up with my daily updates and articles.
