Day 523: The Final Night of Chemo

After getting a solid 7.5 hours of sleep last night, I woke up to dozens of emails, texts, messages and Facebook comments. It would continue throughout the day as people took a minute out of their day to check on me. It floors me how supportive everyone is and it means so much to both of us.

I was still very tired when I woke up so I took a nap right after Laura left for work. I ended up sleeping for another hour before finally feeling like I had gotten enough rest.

Our neuro-oncologist sent a message letting me know that she had a chance to review the cat-scan images that we had uploaded to her yesterday. She didn’t see anything to cause concern so there won’t be any need to go up to UCSF before our next scheduled appointment on February 5th.

I spent the rest of the day watching podcasts, finishing a book, watching TV and playing video games. I didn’t dare do any work because I had strict orders from everyone to rest and plenty of eyes on me virtually. I do plan on working tomorrow, at least for part of the day.

Tonight is my last night of the 11th round of chemo. It will be good to put this round behind us with everything that has happened and leaving only one more round left to complete.

Unfortunately, finishing chemo doesn’t allow us to completely put all of this in our rearview since I still won’t be able to drive for an additional two months after I finish chemo.

I wasn’t worried about the ongoing MRIs since that will be part of our life forever but I was looking forward the final hurdle of finishing chemo. But, like every hurdle during this journey, we will get past it.

I haven’t worked out all week so I am hoping to get a workout of some form in within the next few days, especially as we figure out if I will still be able to go to the gym or if I’ll have to start using the onsite gym again.
