Day 482: Another MRI and More Blood Work
Since I had to leave early for my appointments at UCSF I got right to it as soon as I woke up this morning. I didn’t want the day to be a complete wash.
After having my MRI I met with our neuro-oncologist. She said that the scans showed that the surgical area continues to heal well. The tumor remnants are responding well to the chemo and are not attempting to form back together.
My next MRI and follow-up appointment will be around the end of February following my last round of chemo.
From that point forward I will continue to have an MRI every few months for the next several years until it eventually stretches to an MRI once per year. It will never extend longer than a year and I will have to continue the scans for the rest of my life.
I had my Day 28 blood work done and picked up my chemo from the specialty pharmacy at the hospital before heading back home.
When I got home from San Francisco I took my pre-workout drink and headed over to the gym for a back and triceps lifting session:
Back
- Dumbbell Bent-Over Row - 1 x 12 reps (45 lb dumbbells), 4 x 8 reps (55, 60, 65, 70 lb dumbbells)
- Wide-Grip Lat Pulldown - 4 x 10 reps (100, 110, 120, 130 lbs)
- Straight-Arm Pulldown - 3 x 15 reps (60 lbs)
- Close Grip Cable Rows - 3 x 15 reps (80 lbs, 90 lbs, 100 lbs)
Triceps
- Rope Tricep Pushdowns - 1 x 12 reps (60 lbs), 3 x 15 reps (80, 90, 100 lbs)
- Machine Overhead Triceps Extension - 3 x 15 reps (50 lbs)
I felt really strong on my back lifts and was able to increase the weight on every single set.
I had never used the thick rope before for tricep pushdowns but I was still able to increase the weight on each set. Though I usually do three exercises for my triceps, they were exhausted by the time I finished the last set of tricep extensions.
Tonight has been a relaxing Friday night catching up on a TV show that we enjoy and winding down after a busy week back after vacation.
Tomorrow I’m really looking forward to picking out and decorating our Christmas tree. We both love this time of the year!
