Day 448: Locking Myself Out
When Sasha and Darren started waking me up this morning I assumed that it was between 6:30-7:00a but it was only 5:50a. I tried going back to sleep but they kept at it until I got out of bed around 6:05a.
The second I heard our door close behind us I immediately realized that I had left my keys inside. For nearly 30 minutes I tried knocking on our door, ringing the door bell and calling Laura’s cell.
In any other situation, 20 missed calls would seem uncalled for but her cell was on silent. I was hoping that a combination of the phone lighting up and the knocks on the door would work but neither did.
I decided to take Sasha for her walk and hope that someone would be able to let us back into the security doors.
I waited outside for 20 minutes until I saw one of the maintenance guys who was nice enough to get a master key and let us back in.
With that interesting start to the morning, it was off to the gym for me.
Today was my first time really testing my legs that didn’t involve bodyweight only exercises. My workout was:
- Alternating Dumbbell Lunge - 3 x 12 reps (40 lb dumbbells)
- Kettlebell Goblet Squat - 3 x 8 reps (20 kg, 25 kg, 35 kg)
- Leg Press - 3 x 10 reps (180 lbs, 270 lbs, 320 lbs)
- Dumbbell Romanian Deadlift - 3 x 12 reps (40 lb, 45 lb, 50 lb dumbbells)
- Leg Curl - 3 x 15 reps (125 lbs, 150 lbs, 165 lbs)
- Standing Calf Raise - 4 x 15 reps (195 lbs, 205 lbs, 215 lbs, 215 lbs)
- Rotary Calf Press - 3 x 20 reps (90 lbs, 135 lbs, 135 lbs)
I had originally planned on starting with barbell back squats but all of the squat racks were being used so I started with the dumbbell lunges.
When a squat rack freed up I finally hit my first range of motion issue with my shoulders. I wasn’t able to set up to lift the barbell off of the rack with my hands in a proper position due to tightness in my shoulders.
Instead of forcing the issue I quickly switched to the goblet squats since they’re effective and wouldn’t affect my shoulders.
We decided to make today a relaxing day at home making chili and watching movies so after my workout we headed out for breakfast before picking up the ingredients to make the chili including bread bowls from Boudin.
The movie choices for the day were "Furious 7" and “Armageddon” - one new movie and one older one.
It has been a fantastic day, well, after the mishap of forgetting my keys.
