Day 434: Monterey Bay, Carmel and Silicon Valley
I was happy to string together my second 7+ hour night of sleep after missing the mark for three nights in a row earlier this week.
Though Saturdays are usually reserved for a long cardio session, I only had time to get in a quick workout so I tackled another 20 minutes on the elliptical.
I pushed myself extremely hard setting my best PR for any minute/mile on the elliptical, treadmill or running outside. I know they aren’t all equivalent but I was still excited by it.
I averaged a 7:15 minute/mile which is 2.5-3 minutes/mile faster. I also hit another PR for total number of strides at 4,450, up from 4,200 strides yesterday.
I could barely breathe when I was finished and was still sweating for another 20 minutes or so until my body finally cooled down.
We drove down to Monterey Bay, spending the day exploring the Aquarium, having lunch and enjoying a fun day being outside.
It was our second time going there and Adrian’s first. It’s an incredible aquarium and a must-see attraction if you’re in the area.
After hanging out in Monterey Bay for a few hours we drove the scenic route along the water before driving over to Carmel.
We walked down to the ocean, hung out in the town green for a little while and enjoyed some sweet treats before hopping on the highway to head home.
Over the last few days we have been binge watching Silicon Valley when we’re just relaxing at home and tonight we are working our way through the second season. Adrian has already seen the show but Laura and I hadn’t.
Tomorrow we’re looking forward to going to the 49ers game and either tomorrow night or Monday Laura is going to make her homemade macaroni and cheese by request from Adrian.
It has been a really fun day which has included racking up another 16,000+ steps and will likely be closer to 18,000 by the end of the night.
