Day 426: Lunch with Chef Emeril Lagasse

I had planned on sleeping in for 45 minutes later than usual this morning but Sasha ensured that I woke up only 4 minutes later than my alarm.

I did a bit of early morning work since I was dressed before Laura. Once she was ready we drove up to Marin County for the day.

We worked from a small cafe that we enjoyed going to when we lived in the area. Laura had a team meeting at the cafe so I just focused on getting through my inbox and Slack while putting a bow on several smaller projects that cropped up this week.

We then went over to one of the restaurants in the restaurant group that Laura works for to have a private luncheon with Chef Emeril Lagasse.

"A great way to end the week - lunch with Chef @emeril to celebrate his new book #EssentialEmeril"

It was really cool to meet the Chef, talk to him for a minute and hear the various stories that he told about not only the food selections on the menu but also about his decades in the food industry.

I stayed in touch with my team as needed throughout the day but it was a pretty quiet day around the office after a long week for everyone.

We ended up hitting rush hour traffic so it took us 2.5 hours to get home. That is one commute that I do not miss. When you’re stuck in traffic for 2.5 hours it completely zaps all energy.

When we lived in Marin County I would hit that commute coming back home from the office when I would come down on Thursdays.

By the time we got home I decided not to go to the gym because of how tired I was.

Typically today (Day 5) and Sunday (Day 7) are the two days when I feel very fatigued. And right on schedule, I felt fatigued throughout the day especially during the drive home.

Besides the fatigue I also have had a lack of hunger tonight. It wasn’t nausea but just generally not being hungry. It’s par for the course.

I’m looking forward to relaxing this weekend after being on chemo for the week.
