Day 317: Jumping Jacks, Box Jumps, Pull-Ups & More
This week got off to a fairly easy start with only two meetings scheduled this morning. I wanted to try giving myself as much time today to work through projects before vacation since tomorrow and Thursday I have several meetings and Friday I’ll be out of pocket for 1/2 the day with the visit to UCSF.
When I have blocks of time to really focus on project work it is also a great opportunity to alternate between standing and sitting as well as ensuring that I take a lap around our floor at least once every 30-45 minutes.
My goal is to never allow my UP band to buzz which it is set to do if there is inactivity for 45 minutes. When I have busy meeting days that it is a bit harder to control but I still do my best.
There are still ongoing issues with the Spartan website so I dug back through my workouts to find one for this evening. I felt like doing both jumping jacks and box jumps so I found a workout that I hand’t done for the last 5-6 weeks or so.
After really stretching out my shoulders, the following is what my workout was:
Warm Up
- Jump Rope – 2 minutes
- 10 – Glute Kickbacks
- 10 – Jumping Lunges
- 10 – Star Jumps
Main Set
- 150 jumping jacks
- 15 burpees
- 5 pull-ups
- 15 box jumps
- 15 sandbag squat-throws
- 5 pull-ups
- 50 crunches
- 50 bodyweight squats
- 5 pull-ups
- 50 jumping lunges
- Run 1.5 miles
I could barely breath by the time I finished the workout. I had to actually peel my shirt and compression shirt off because it was drenched in sweat.
The original workout called for all 15 pull-ups at once but I broke up the pull-ups into sets of 5 so that I could accomplish them all. I still had to use a Monster band but it felt good being able to complete all of them.
It was fun to get into a fitness discussion tonight on Facebook about different types of mobile apps available (MapMyFitness, Under Armour Record, etc). I get so used to using the UP app that I forget to try other apps, especially as they’re updated with Android Wear apps and added functionality.
