Day 308: A Hard WOD, Jurassic World and Margaritas

I’m usually able to sleep until 7-7:15a on weekend mornings but today Darren started running around like a crazy cat so I ended up popping out of bed at 6:30a.

After taking care of Sasha and Darren, I went next door to the gym to tackle today’s WOD:

Warm-up

Run 2 miles

Main Set

  • 25 push-ups
  • 25 squats
  • 20 mountain climbers
  • Run ½ mile at high intensity, but pace yourself so you don't have to walk
  • 10 squat jumps
  • 50-yard lunge walk
  • 10 lunge jumps
  • 20 flutter kicks
  • 10 side-to-side hops

Run 1 mile to cool down and then stretch

This was among the hardest WODs that I have completed since it involved so much cardio. All in it was a total of 3.5 miles though each of the runs were at different paces ranging from 8:30 mins/mile to 12 mins/mile.

For at least 15 minutes post-workout I was still dripping sweat and that was after taking off my t-shirt and compression shirt.

When Laura woke up we went out for breakfast at a local diner that we recently discovered. We usually go out for bagels or pastries but we thought that a full breakfast sounded like a fun idea.

While Laura got ready I took time to watch a POV video of last year’s AT&T Park Spartan Sprint.

Though they change the courses per location and season, it gives me a good idea of what to expect as we get closer to July 18th. If you’ve never participated in a Spartan race or don’t know much about it, take a look at the video.

We went to go see Jurassic World which turned out to be an awesome movie. I highly recommend it especially if you’ve seen the previous Jurassic Park movies.

After the movie we went out for margaritas at our favorite local Mexican restaurant to celebrate it being 14 days before we head to Cabo for a week.

We are now back home binge-watching Season 3 of "Orange is the New Black” on Netflix before crashing for the night.
