I was able to sleep throughout the night and was able to fall back asleep for a bit after taking care of Sasha and Darren. I didn’t feel any nausea when I got out of bed which was nice. Though I didn’t have any meetings today, I did have several projects that I needed to move forward today including going through a list of 4,500 blog tags. Well, not 4,500 but pretty close to it. It’s all part of our blog upgrade project and, as you can guess, the majority of these tags were created before my team started managing it.
Read MoreThough I turned off my normal alarm, I still woke up at the same time since Sasha started whining and pawing at me to go outside. I took her downstairs, fed both of them and then crawled back into bed to fall back asleep for a while. I woke back up for the day around an hour later.
Read MoreMuch like yesterday, my day was light on meetings and quieter than usual. I had expected to either be in the 2-day training, which had been blocked on my calendar for months, or on chemo, which I had blocked a couple of weeks ago. It has been nice having a couple quiet days because it has given me a chance to dig in deeper on a few projects, reviews and get ahead on planning.
Read MoreThough Darren was much calmer last night, it was a rough night with me waking up twice overnight before finally getting up at 6:00a when my alarm when off. Today was an odd at work since I only had a couple of meetings scheduled. I was originally supposed to be in a 2-day training today and tomorrow but I canceled yesterday once my chemo start date was adjusted.
Read MoreDarren decided to zip around the house, including across our bed, at 90 mph at 5:30a and proceeded not to stop until my alarm finally went off at 6:00a. As soon as I got to my office I called the home delivery pharmacy that is responsible for shipping my chemo because I never received a call back on Friday to confirm shipment. Unfortunately, today would turn into a frustrating day of talking to multiple reps and a manager before finally getting everything taken care of.
Read MoreWhen we first moved to San Jose we tried sleeping with the windows open for the first couple of nights but the road noise was so loud that it kept us up. We reverted to using the central air when we go to bed at night to keep our bedroom cool. Last night we decided to try sleeping with our bedroom window open again. There was significant road noise when we fell asleep however when I woke up briefly overnight there was complete silence.
Read MoreThough I usually sleep in until 7:30a or so on the weekends, Sasha decided that 6:45a was when I would get up this morning to walk her. Today’s Spartan WOD called for a trail run and using a log or sandbag but since there are no trails nearby and I don’t have a log or sandbag I modified it.
Read MoreThis morning started with my second blood test this week. Today’s test was to check my blood counts again and also to test for liver function. Before all of this started I had veins that protruded through my arms that would bounce when you pressed on them. Now, due to all of the IVs and blood work since August, they can only use the smallest gauge needles and have to search for a vein which they don’t always hit.
Read MoreIt always makes me grit my teeth when I wake up to realize that I was a few minutes under my goal of 7 hours of sleep. I know that the extra 3-5 minutes wouldn’t drastically affect me but still, I’m competitive and I enjoy hitting my goals.
Read MoreEven with waking up twice last night I still slept for 7.5 hours. Though my UP24 app says that I got 3.5 hours of deep sleep which is standard for me, it felt like I slept a lot deeper. Whereas yesterday was a whirlwind day of meetings, today there were only a few meetings but I needed time to prep and try to get somewhat caught up.
Read MoreI fell asleep so quickly last night that I didn’t even have a chance to set my UP24 band. While it has been a great week so far, today already feels like it should be Friday - 9 meetings in a single day can do that to a person. Work is always busy but gets increasingly busier this time of the year as we get closer to Citrix Synergy our customer conference.
Read MoreBefore passing out last night I started reading Simon Sinek’s “Leaders Eat Last” which I have had on my reading wish list for a while. Though I only had a chance to read a few pages it seems like it is going to be a great read.
Read MoreWe ended last night watching a movie in bed before crashing for the night. It helped me to get 7.5 hours of sleep, waking up feeling rested even though Sasha and Darren, as usual, woke me up abruptly.
Read MoreThough it was wonderful to be back in my own bed last night, I didn’t fall asleep until nearly midnight and then had to deal with a psycho cat and a whimpering dog at 6:00a. Fortunately, I was able to fall back asleep until 7:00a but then I was up.
