Day 438: Pushing My Abs Even Harder

I just barely missed hitting my sleep goal today by 5 measly minutes. I blame that on waking up twice during the night.

I had a really tough time waking up this morning, staying asleep for 5-7 minutes after my alarm started going off. That never happens to me. I always pop out of bed the second the alarm starts going off, wanting to turn silence it before it wakes Laura up since she sleeps for another hour.

The day was busy at work filled with 2016 planning, solidifying Q4 goals, other regular meetings and working on the announcement that Mark Templeton, our president and CEO since 1991, retired today.

As soon as the announcement was made public there was an outpouring of support online. Dozens of people said how much of an impact he has made on their lives, both personally and professionally.

I have had the honor of getting to know and work with him throughout the years and especially more this year as he wanted to become more involved in social media.

Mark’s impact on both the company and IT industry as a whole reminds me of one of my favorite Jay Z lines that comes from his song "Forever Young": “Leave a mark they can’t erase neither space nor time"

We should all strive to leave a legacy in everything we do and Mark is leaving behind a remarkable legacy.

We are in more than capable hands and I look forward to moving on full steam ahead.

Tonight I tackled the same “Spartan Abs 300” workout that I completed last Wednesday:

Warm-up

  • Dynamic warm up
  • Cycle - 5 minutes

Main set

  • 10 sit-ups
  • 10 push-ups
  • 10 leg raises
  • 10 sit-ups
  • 10 mountain climbers
  • 10 sit-ups
  • 30 second plank
  • 10 burpees
  • 1 minute rest

repeat x2

Cool Down

  • Stretch

Like last week, I completed all rounds of sit-ups with a 12 lb medicine ball.

I really wish we had heavier medicine balls because I would push myself with a 20-25 lb medicine ball if I could - the weight I used to use prior to my injuries.

After completing this workout last Wednesday, though tired, I knew I could push myself harder so tonight I completed another round.

I had to get back home to finish up some work but I am confident that I could likely finish another 1-2 rounds.

Tomorrow I will be working from home since the 49ers have a Thursday night home game. It creates traffic craziness since the stadium is directly across the street from our campus so it’s easier to avoid it all.

Friday it’s time already for my Day 21 blood work. Though I still have another 1.5 weeks before chemo starts again, it flew by this round since Adrian was here for a week of it.
