Day 431: The Misnomer of Biometric Screenings
I know that I should use my TriggerPoint GRID on a nightly basis but I don’t use it as often as I should.
When I woke up this morning I felt the affects of not using it as my hamstrings, glutes, hips and lower back were even more sore than they were yesterday.
Today was a fast paced day filled with back-to-back meetings again with only 15 minutes to inhale lunch. One of the highlights was catching up with Jason Keath and Nicole D’Alonzo - I’m lucky to have them as friends.
Every year we have a health and wellness fair at work where we can have our biometrics tested. It was good to have my blood pressure, cholesterol and other key metrics tested.
As usual, due to my height and muscle mass, my BMI comes back as being overweight even though that’s the farthest thing from the truth. It’s one of the misnomers of the standardized testing - it doesn’t differentiate between muscle and fat.
I was happy to see that tonight’s workout was a short one before getting a day off tomorrow.
Not only has my body been tired after the past four days of hard workouts but we had a lot to get done before my friend lands here tonight as well.
Tonight’s “Spartan Abs 300” workout was, as you can guess it, focused on the core:
Warm-up
- Dynamic warm up
- Cycle - 5 minutes
Main set
- 10 sit-ups
- 10 push-ups
- 10 leg raises
- 10 sit-ups
- 10 mountain climbers
- 10 sit-ups
- 30 second plank
- 10 burpees
Cool Down
- Stretch
I performed every set of sit-ups with a 12 lb medicine ball to make the sets harder.
I easily could have done 2-3 additional rounds if I had more time. My core has always been strong and has had a lot of endurance during workouts.
After my workout I tackled the cleaning that was on my to-do list while Laura finished up last-minute cleaning as well.
I’m really looking forward to having my buddy here for the next several days. Whenever he flies out we enjoy a week of good food and just hanging out. It’ll be his first time out here since my injuries even though I have seen him when we have gone back to Connecticut.
