Day 425: The Fatigue Gets Worse
For the first time all week I was able to get 7 hours of sleep last night and managed to only wake up once overnight.
When my alarm went off I turned it off wondering to myself why I had set my alarm for a Saturday morning before realizing that it was only Thursday. That was not a great way to start my day.
The fatigue has continued to feel as though it is layering on top of itself each day. I had to drag myself out of bed this morning, something that is very unlike me normally.
I only had a few meetings today so I used the rest of the day to try staying productive. I was easily distracted and wasn’t as productive as usual due to the fatigue but pushed through the day.
When I came home from work I found a short HIIT workout on Greatist that I wanted to try. I didn’t want a long workout since I knew that it would be hard due to the fatigue from the chemo.
Warm Up:
- 100 jumping jacks
Main Set:
- Explosive Sumo Squats - 12 reps
- Shoulder Tap Push-Ups - 12 reps
- Burpees - 12 reps
- Plank Pike - 12 reps
- Lateral Jumps - 12 reps
- Single-Arm Iso Hold - 3 reps per arm
- Tuck Jump - 12 reps
AMRAP - 15 minutes
I was only able to complete one full round plus an additional set of sumo squats and the shoulder tap push-ups in the 15 minute allotment.
I had to take several breaks throughout the workout but still pushed through. Though I was drenched in sweat and trying to catch my breath at the end of the workout, I know I could have completed more had I not been feeling so tired.
Even though I didn’t accomplish as much as I thought I could, I am still happy that I went to the gym thus making another four workouts during this round of chemo.
Tonight will be my last dose of chemo for this round. Usually it takes 1-2 days after a round finishes up for my body to be back at full strength so by Sunday I should be feeling completely better (e.g. no fatigue).
Tomorrow we’re heading up Marin County to work for the day since we’re attending a private lunch with Chef Emeril Lagasse.
The restaurant group that Laura works for partners with a book store to host private lunches and dinners for customers who purchase tickets when chefs are on book tours.
It’ll be an awesome chance to meet a chef that I have been following since I was very young.
