Day 391: Breaking Through Two Personal Records
I had the fun of starting my day out with a dentist appointment. After living in San Jose for seven months it was finally time to find a new dentist.
I was originally planning on going in to my office but to maximize productivity, I decided to just shoot back home.
Today’s workout looked a lot easier than it would turn out to be:
Warm-up
- Dynamic warm up
- Jog - 5 minutes
Main set
- 30 seconds mountain climbers
- 30 seconds recovery
- 30 seconds burpees
- 30 seconds recovery
The Spartan WOD didn’t specify how many rounds of today’s workout were to be completed so I just kept going for as long as I could.
I was able to complete 7 rounds and a total of 45 burpees. I was averaging 7-8 burpees every 30 seconds. This is by far the best that I have ever been able to accomplish.
My previous average was 10 burpees every minute so, though I didn’t perform more burpees, I was able to improve the speed at which I completed them.
When I finished the 7 rounds I wanted to push my body even more so I decided to do a superset of unassisted chin-ups (5 reps) and box jumps (15 reps) on an 18” bench.
I completed 3 rounds of the superset. I was able to do a total of 13 unassisted chin-ups - more than I have performed since my surgeries.
Though chin-ups (underhand) use more of the biceps than pull-ups (overhand) thus making them easier, it was still another win for me.
I’m really looking forward to the long weekend. Besides relaxing I will be working on finishing up research for my Content Marketing World panel and the outline for my Bold talk.
I’m also hoping to begin outlining the book that so many have inquired whether I would write or not. We’ll see how ambitious I am.
