Day 375: Enjoying Picturesque Maine

I was awake at 5:00a ET this morning which, for my body, felt like 2:00a PT. Fortunately I had gotten a solid night of sleep last night so didn’t have any issues getting up so early.

Once everyone was ready we piled in and took off for Ogunquit, Maine. It takes around 3.5 hours from my in-laws’ house. Factoring in a few stops along the way, including shopping at the Kittery outlets, we ended up getting into town approximately 4.5 hours after leaving.

Since it was too early to check into our room, we headed out for lunch at a great flatbread place that I hadn’t been to before. It was actually in the same location that a local deli that we really loved used to be.

We then walked the 1.5 miles of Marginal Way which is right along the water so we got to watch the waves crashing in against the rocks.

At the end of the walk we stopped for my favorite chocolate peanut butter ice cream. I haven’t had it in 5 years since moving out to the Bay Area and with one bite I was back in heaven.

In between doing a bit of stopping in/out of stores, we spent time playing with my niece. She is a ball of fun and loves every second of attention that you give her.

We took the 1.5 mile walk back along Marginal Way so that we could check into our room before heading down to the pool to cool off.

It was fun swimming with my niece for the first time. She loves water, whether it is her bath or being in a pool, so she was all smiles while I picked her up and swung her in the air before bringing her back down to her waist.

I also had fun splashing the water with her which caused her to start splashing the water just to watch us laugh…or at least that’s what I told myself.

Before dinner we relaxed in lawn chairs and Laura and I played a round of cornhole while we enjoyed a couple bottles of bubbles.

We had dinner at a small, amazing tapas place in town where three kitchen staff plus one expo cranked out an incredible amount of delicious food.

After dinner we then walked back to our room to relax for a bit before crashing for another full day here tomorrow.

It has been a wonderful week away so far. Unlike most vacations where I completely disconnect, I had to stay partially plugged in since we have a big launch this week but, thanks to an amazing team around me, I have been able to jump in for a few minutes each day to check on everything.
