Day 369: Finishing Up the 6th Round

Last night was far better than the previous night. We ate dinner earlier in the evening so I was able to take my chemo and still get a full 7 hours of sleep.

Over the previous 5 rounds of chemo, the 5th and final day has always been the hardest for me. It is the day that I have felt the most crummy, fatigued and all around just blah.

This round was no different. From the moment I woke up I was moving slower than usual and felt exhausted.

I pushed through it, heading into my office for my last day in the office before we leave for vacation. Tomorrow I will be working from home, as usual for Friday.

I felt fatigued throughout the rest of the day. I didn’t use my standing desk at all, choosing to sit when I could even though I still got up to walk around the office in between meetings.

It was another day of tearing up as I looked through Timehop and Facebook Memories. For as long as apps similar to these exist I will have a constant reminder of how thoughtful everyone was, especially during those initial weeks.

My body was very sore from my last few workouts so I’m glad that today was a rest day. I’m also still fighting the same soreness in my right ankle/lower shin area. I may take tomorrow off as well to give my body another day to recover.

Tonight will be my last dose of the 6th round of chemo thus putting us officially fifty percent of the way through. We still have a long road ahead of us, likely with other unknown challenges, but this is a major milestone.

I remember when we made the decision to start chemo. I was terrified of what the poison would do to my body. And now I’m able to sit here halfway through my chemo treatment.
