Day 307: Final Night of the Fourth Round

It was nice to get a complete night of sleep without waking up - quite different than the night before when I woke up with a stomach ache and then woke up another time to use the restroom.

For the first time in a few weeks I worked from home today, which turned out to be a good thing because it was the most fatigued that I felt all week.

My knee was feeling stronger so I started using my standing desk again which felt good. Once you use a standing desk it becomes hard to sit for long periods of time.

After a few meetings this morning I transitioned to working from my couch. Around 2:00p I suddenly was hit by a brick wall of fatigue. I couldn’t keep my eyes open and my head started to bob as I was trying to work.

I tried to fight it for a while but eventually gave in and went to lay down. Though I’m not someone who typically naps, I fell asleep immediately and didn’t wake up for an hour.

I have only felt that fatigued one other time over the past 4 months of being on chemo.

When I woke up I shook off the grogginess, finished a bit of work and then went over to the gym for my workout.

Today’s WOD was short but very hard:

Warm-up

Dynamic-warm-up

Main set

Do one minute of each:

  • Mountain climbers
  • Spiderman push-up
  • Plank
  • Inverted pull-ups
  • Medicine ball sit-ups (12 lb medicine ball)
  • Squat jumps

After coming back home I took a peek at tomorrow’s workout  It is scheduled as 180 minutes of cardio but tomorrow will be an endurance + strength day. Usually the WODs are either an endurance or strength day but never both.

I’m looking forward to pushing my body through the discomfort tomorrow morning before starting a fun date day with Laura that will include going to see Jurassic World.

Tonight is my last dose of chemo for the fourth round. That puts us 1/3 of the way through the year of chemo which is something to celebrate.

Though my body mostly deals with the chemo well with exception of fatigue, loss of appetite and nausea, it is still good to make it through each round.

I’ll still have some lingering side effects for the next couple of days but no more pills until I get back from vacation.
