Day 249: 249 Days in a Row

Today was a non-stop day jumping from meeting to meeting while trying to squeeze in some work during the downtime.

During the day I didn’t stop to charge my Jawbone UP24 so from 11:30a-5:30p it didn’t track anything, including the 8 flights of stairs that I climbed during that time. I average 15-20 flights of stairs per day.

It’s always frustrating since it only takes 15-20 minutes to charge it for a full 7 days.

When I got home from workout I went to the gym to tackle, as Spartan called it, “The Wrestler” workout:

Warm-up:

Main Set:

  • 75 burpees
  • 30 squat tosses w/12 lb medicine ball
  • pistol squats each leg
  • 5 pull-ups

I wasn’t able to complete all 75 burpees in a single set so I chipped away at them throughout the workout.

Once I got through the first 15-20 reps I then did rounds of 5 reps until I was able to get through all 75 of them. It is by far the most burpees that I have ever done.

The prescribed workout included doing bear crawls at the end but I couldn’t function at all by the time I finished the burpees. In fact, when I got home I just laid on the couch barely able to do anything for at least an hour after.

I was able to do all 5 pull-ups with the assistance of a Monster band. I was happy with it because it was coming off of having done so many burpees right before.

I had always wanted to do pistol squats but, though I had the strength, I didn’t have the mobility.

Tonight I was able to do 5 pistol squats with my left leg but could only get through 1.5 squats on my right leg.

Every night as I sit down to type my update I see the list of previous updates within Evernote.

It’s crazy that I have managed to write about this journey every single day for the last 249 days with each update being a minimum of approximately 300 words.

I continue to take the time every night to document this primarily due to the feedback that I get every week from those who takes the time to come along with us on this journey.
