Day 203: Pushing Through a Hard Cardio Workout
The nice part of weekends is the ability to sleep without an alarm. I still wake up by 6:30-6:45a when Sasha and Darren wake up. Even with them waking me up at 6:30a I was able to get 8.5 hours of sleep last night.
I headed over to the gym to work on my shoulder mobility and to tackle the same cardio workout from last Saturday.
Though my shoulders and upper back were sore from yesterday’s workout I decided to try a pull-up again
My form wasn’t great and I wasn’t able to get fully up but I was able to get far closer to a full pull-up than I have previously.
The cardio workout consists of 3 rounds of the following 5 exercises, each performed for one minute with a one minute rest between rounds:
- Burpee (no pushup) with one knee tuck jump
- Jumping jacks
- Jog in place with high knees
- Rotating sky jumps (reach up)
- Double tuck running mans
I still had to take a 15 second break between exercises and several smaller breaks during each exercise but I’m happy with how I performed during it. I can feel my body continuing to grow stronger.
When I came back home I spent time watching the CrossFit Games Open 15.1 workout announcement.
It was fun to watch Rich Froning and Matt Fraser go head-to-head. Even though Froning won’t be competing in the individual games this year, he is still a beast to watch.
I would love to try CrossFit one day but I need my shoulders to get stronger since I can barely hang from a pull-up bar right now, never mind trying any overhead pressing movements.
Since today was forecasted to be on/off rain throughout the day we decided to go see “Kingsman” which turned out to be a fun movie. After the movie we stopped at Chili’s for a late lunch.
It has been about 4 years since we were last at Chili’s. There were none in Marin County so we never had the chance to go.
Chili’s holds a special place for us because we met while working at Chili’s around 8-9 years ago.
On the way back home we picked up a movie from Redbox to watch, spending the rest of the evening hanging out.
Tomorrow will be a few hours of running errands and those other fun tasks that the weekend tends to hold in store especially since we will be away next weekend.
