Day 183: Reaching Behind My Back

I passed out last night as soon as I crawled into bed even before I could even set my UP band or put on my sleep mask. I wear a sleep mask at night to help block out all light for deeper and more restful sleep.

When I woke up I used my Trigger Point roller (aff. link) for global rolling of my lower back since it was very sore following my pyramid legs workout on Friday.

I then went next door to our gym to continue working on the internal and external rotation in my shoulders.

I have been pushing my shoulders hard lately because I want to continue making big strides in my healing process. I also want my body as strong as possible before starting chemo in March.

After I finished my shoulder mobilizations I knocked out the same chest workout from Scott Herman that I completed last week.

This week I was able to add in the pre-exhaust part of the workout though I couldn’t finish 30 reps per set.

During each set I started to feel pain in my left shoulder so I didn’t want to push too hard. Also, it is taking time to work my body back up to its former capabilities.

Here is the chest routine that I performed this morning:

Pre-exhaust:
Push-ups w/bars: 15 reps, 12 reps, 4 reps

- Seated Bench Press (4 sets: 30 reps, 25 reps, 20 reps, 15 reps)

- Incline Dumbbell Bench Press (4 sets: 30 reps, 25 reps, 20 reps, 15 reps)

Superset

- Dumbbell Chest Fly (4 sets: 10 reps)
- Dumbbell Low Chest Fly (4 sets: 10 reps)

- Rest 60 seconds MAX between sets & supersets

I still can’t add in the other 2 supersets of push-ups yet but am working my chest up to it. I was happy that I was able to add in the pre-exhaust sets.

One of the little wins for me this morning was being able to reach behind my back, grabbing each wrist and pulling my arms 2-3 inches off of my back.

About a month or so ago I had finally been able to grab my wrist behind my back but it wasn’t until today that I was able to actually stretch my triceps by pulling them off of my lower back.

Today was another rainy day around here so it made for a perfect day to run errands though it nixed the plan to go for a walk or hike.

When we came back home I decided to tackle mounting the living room TV.

I am certainly not a handyman and tend to prefer paying someone else to do projects like this but I was determined to accomplish it.

There may be a broken drill bit stuck in our wall and several additional holes now hiding behind the TV but after a few hours of working through it, including a run to Home Depot, the TV is now mounted to our wall.

By the time I finished I decided that the bedroom TV can wait until next weekend.

Hopefully tomorrow night we’ll take some time to hang the artwork that we have purchased over the last several weeks.

We vowed that with this apartment we would actually decorate it since our other apartments we have never fully decorated.

Typically we have purchased a couple of things and then that was it instead of slowing working to invest in our home.

However this time we have decided to start making purchases especially since we plan on buying a home within the next 1-2 years.

Tonight we are enjoying watching the Grammys and relaxing before a busy week begins including a trip to Las Vegas to speed at the Social Media Strategies Summit
