Day 177: Getting Back into the Groove

Though I didn’t hit my goal last night of a minimum of 7 hours, I was able to get 6.5 hours with almost 4 hours of that being deep sleep.

Even though he usually doesn’t sleep with me, Darren spent all night at my feet. Whenever I would wake up to turn I could feel him against my feet.

With spotty heavy traffic it still only took us about 30 minutes to get to my office this morning. Laura then had another 20 minute drive to get to her office.

Not being able to drive myself adds more stress because instead of it only being a 15-20 minute drive for Laura, it turns into nearly an hour even though we now live close to our offices.

As team members noticed that I was in the office today everyone seemed thoroughly excited to have me now regularly there instead of just every Thursday like I have been doing.

Since I haven’t been around for nearly 3 weeks due to the 2 work trips and vacation my to-do list today was a mile long and that’s even with prioritizing it.

It felt great being in the office and I was able to crush through more items on my to-do list than I imagined.

Laura picked me up around 6:45p since she had a meeting that ran late and then had to drive the 20 minutes to come pick me up.

While I was waiting for Laura I worked on my internal and external shoulder mobility. I feel like it is improving but the real test will be when we go back to the orthopedic surgeon in a couple of months.

There are a few exercises that I want to try from MobilityWOD that are geared towards improving shoulder mobility but those will have to wait until the weekend to try.

Unfortunately we hit a wall of traffic while trying to get home but it still only took us around 35-40 minutes…a far cry from the 2-2.5 hours that it would take us to get home when we lived in Marin County. However, we will be exploring other routes to avoid the wall-to-wall traffic that is 101S at rush hour.

While I intended on going to the gym tonight for the first time in 3 weeks I was so exhausted by the time we got home that I decided not to go.

If I get home early enough tomorrow then I will hit the gym. It will be fun to test out this new gym which, if I remember correctly from our tour, is better than our old fitness center.

Once I get my license reinstated then I will likely find a new large gym so that I can perform more exercises.

Though I didn’t get to the gym tonight it was nice to get back to eating healthy. Being on the road for 3 weeks destroyed my diet so I was happy that I was able to get that back into place.
