Day 170: Back Home and Right Back on the Road

I was near delirious with how tired I was last night so we crashed at 9:30p. It felt incredible crawling back into my own bed for the first time in 2 weeks.

I woke up a couple times throughout the night confused by what time it was but was able to fall back asleep quickly each time.

By the time I woke up I ended up getting almost 9.5 hours of sleep - more than double what I had gotten on Saturday night.

My shoulders felt great when I woke up this morning. While they tolerated the travel and sleeping on different beds, sleeping in my own bed helped to make them feel better. Towards the end of vacation the hard boat mattresses really started to hurt.

It was my first day back in my home office after vacation so it was very busy catching up on email and several projects. The day also suddenly became packed with last-minute meetings.

While we were scheduled to have my mother-in-law fly into town tomorrow to help us pack for our move on Saturday, yesterday she had moved her flight from Tuesday to Wednesday due to the blizzard impacting the Northeast.

Then today her flight on Wednesday was canceled and rebooked for Thursday.

By the time she gets to our house we will only have all-day Friday for the 3 of us to pack before the movers show up on Saturday morning.

It’s just another hurdle to deal with in these few months of craziness.

I headed back to the airport for another business trip, this time to Santa Barbara for another sales kick off conference.

This time around I have to present a session with 2 other colleagues in addition to several in-person meetings over the course of the next few days.

I arrived in Santa Barbara and was fortunate enough to have our dear friend, Lisa Horner, pick me up from the airport for a great dinner filled with laughter and catching up on life.

I am now checked into my hotel and going to try stretching my shoulders out before falling asleep.

As part of our conference we offer employees the option of running/walking a 5K to earn a donation to their favorite charity.

Since I haven’t been able to workout in 2 weeks, running a 5K was on my 2015 goals and it will benefit Feeding America by providing another 250 meals, I am excited to participate.
