Day 139: Hitting Inbox Zero
Last night I was able to sleep for nearly 8 hours with only waking up once for a brief minute right after falling asleep.
As I fell asleep I wanted to test the difference between my UP24 band and the Galaxy Gear Fit smartwatch that my sister-in-law and her boyfriend bought me for Christmas. My UP band proved to be more detailed and accurate than the smartwatch.
I’ll be exchanging the Gear Fit for another smartwatch that runs on Android Wear within the next few days so that I can have the deeper app integrations and Google Now.
Once I woke up I changed into my workout clothes and headed over for a legs session. In just under 40 minutes I completed the following workout:
- Dumbbell Squats: 4 sets x 15 reps (10 lbs, 15 lbs, 20 lbs, 22.5 lbs)
- Dumbbell Lunges: 3 sets x 10 reps (15 lbs, 20 lbs, 22.5 lbs)
- Dumbbell Calf Raises: 3 sets x 15 reps (15 lbs, 20 lbs, 22.5 lbs)
- Leg Press: 3 sets x 12 reps (60 lbs, 80 lbs, 100 lbs)
It was by far the strongest lifting session including setting a number of PRs since getting out of the hospital. I limped back home after finishing my workout…which felt great.
When I got home I decided to try my new MobilityWOD Gemini and Supernova by working on my triceps, forearms and upper pecs to increase my mobility.
After focusing on my inbox and pushing through some of the harder emails, I was finally able to hit inbox zero for the first time since before having my seizures. It is a beautiful thing to achieve, even if it is fleeting.
I used the quiet time to focus on budget tasks such as working through my Q4 accruals, Q1 budget, making updates to my 2015 budget and updating my team’s 2015 projects. I also took time to work on a 3 year vision for how I’d like to see social media integrated throughout Citrix.
These are all tasks that get crammed into quick sessions amidst the regular onslaught of meetings, emails, IMs and other interruptions.
After finishing that work I continued work on my 3 words and goals for 2015. There is still a bit of fine tuning left to do but I am feeling focused as we head into 2015.
I am also ready to tackle head-on the hurdles that lay in front of us such as starting chemotherapy, no matter how it affects us.
We enjoyed holiday leftovers tonight and watched a couple of movies. A quiet night was nice after the past couple of days filled with cooking.
We are looking forward to this weekend as head to our first ballet tomorrow to see The Nutcracker and then go to the San Francisco 49ers game on Sunday.
