Day 9: Pushing Out the Brain Surgery
Today has been a busy day so far. It started with going back down to the OR so that the anesthesiologist could reset the nerve block in my neck from yesterday's surgery. I then had an echo cardio gram to map my heart in prep for the brain surgery. More visits with occupational and physical therapy plus the usual vital sign checks and blood tests.
After meeting with the neurosurgeon he has decided to push out the brain surgery until likely late next week. He wants to give my shoulders more time to heal and time for my body to recover from the blood infection.
We'll head home later this week to get some rest at home while they schedule the brain surgery. It'll be good because we haven't gotten more than 3 straight hours of sleep in a week and a half.
Waiting to meet with the ortho surgeon about next steps for my shoulders.
Staying focused on the next steps in front of us and taking it one day at a time.
Thank you for the thoughtful and continued support. I still haven't been able to get back to everyone but I will over the course of time.
